I am still waiting for my Badlands, it's on chip-hold currently, so I am biding my time watching some Bronco off-road videos. I have seen dozens of videos of Badlands with the Sasquatch package, and I have a pretty good idea of how well they do off-road. I know there is not that much difference on the Badlands trim aside from wheels and a slight increase in height gained from the tires, and I don't think a non-sas bronco would have too much trouble doing 95% of what a sasquatched bronco would do. However, as I did not order the sas package with my badlands, I was just hoping find more non-sas bronco videos doing the same or similar trails. Currently the only one I have found is this video of a non-sas'ed bronco at the Moab Off-Roadeo. I consider my google fu somewhat strong, so I suspect there either just isn't a lot of non-Sas'ed Badlands, or the folks that have them just don't post videos as much.

@LostInArizona I have a Badlands, non-sas, I did however do the Off Roadeo in a Sasquatched Badlands, but made sure to watch the non-sas one on every obstacle, I was happy with my decision. The non-sas version did every obstacle the sas version did!

Plus! I am getting 19mpg in my Badlands!

I will share our perspective.
We purposely choice to drive a Badland non-sas at the MOAB Off-Roadeo last month. We have one on order, (just received the build date last week) but have been owners of a BigBen since February and drove a few trails in Moab before attending the Off-Roadeo event.
I wanted to compare the different options between the two builds, Big Bend 2.3L w/35s Goodyears VS Badlands 2.7L w/33s K02. I was very impressed with the Badland, we did everything during the event that others did, and even a few climbs without using the lockers unlike the the others equipped with Sasquatch. Only issue we had was slight contact on the skid plates once while descending down a ledge. So I'm stoked we did the right build for us!

Height has very little to do with off-road capability.......driver ability and axle capabilities are more important. Lift a nonsasq bronco to Sasq height and it won't be as capable because of the lack of lockers. Some of the guys in our early bronco group with only 3" of lift and built axles and suspension with 35" tires will crawl circles around guys w 5" lift and 38" tires, locker only in the back or none at all.

Just to clarify it doesn't have to be a Sasquatch to have lockers. For instance the Badlands model has lockers as standard equipment with 33's.

Sure, but with all other things being equal (i.e. full lockers, etc.) clearance can make ALL the difference on some obstacles. I know good tire placement, good spotter, good driver, and so on is more important than all of that and I am certainly not having a case of FOMO here with regards to the sas package lol. I actually had it on, but removed it from my order for a couple reasons: slightly better gas mileage, better on road manners as this will be my DD, and (mostly) so I can fit in my narrow side drive at my house! My request is more just a matter of wanting to see something at least comparable to my rig, assuming I ever take delivery. :cautious:

I generally do more overlanding type stuff anyway that usually doesn't need anything too crazy, so its nice to see people aren't getting hung up any more on the 33s.

I'm just telling you from personal experience over the last 20y of crawling and seeing lots of setups from all over the country. An experienced driver can usually take a less equipped ride over obstacles that a nonexperienced driver can take a more equipped ride over.

So true in any vehicle driving sport. (Coming from a past drag and endurance road racer)

Oh for sure, totally agree! I guess I just want to see how they handle the abuse. If they scrape extra in certain places, or have different issues here or there with the smaller tires or different gearing or whatever. Doesn't seem like it though, nor did I really expect there to be that much of a difference. Nice to see a wider array of different setups nonetheless.

Mostly just making conversation while I continue to wait...

I found this video of two guys that drove the same NON-Sasquatch Bronco at the Moab Off-Roadeo as me. They don't narrate (which is fine), but they do show quite a bit of video from the passenger's perspective, and from outside the vehicle. I LOVED driving this Bronco. It wasn't equipped with the Sasquatch package, but it was still a BLAST!

The only thing I would want to do if I got a non-Sasquatch package equipped Bronco would be to swap out the all season Goodyears with a nice mud terrain alternative. The factory tires just aren't knobby enough to give you the grip you want.

Check this out: White Non-Sasquatch Bronco @ the Off-Roadeo
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.
