Broken Windshield! Who has dealt with it?

So, I paid my registration for this year online and got the sticker tags in the mail.

You can imagine my surprise when I am all smiles headed out to the garage with my razor blade and new reg sticker (which is still good till Dec.) only to see a 2-inch crack right under the damn inspection and reg sticker! Son of a ...!

Has anyone gone through this replacement? I can't imagine the windshields are easy to get like everything else on these things. I know it will sound stupid, but I also have the green oval sticker stating American made in Wayne, Michigan Plant and I want that on the new one.

After thinking about it, there is a whole lotta crap on that windshield like the light dimmer sensor and I am sure all types of other computer crap. I am afraid to do it now fearing some Safelight kid doesn't know his ass from a corn hole.

I have "free windshield replacements," (yeah, free, my ass) we pay more each year for it as we both commute. I will say Allstate has been dolls with replacing every one in the past 5 years, but I am a little afraid with this Bronco. I think I am going to stay home for this one, unlike when the Kia Soul and Cooper were done; I just left the doors unlocked and both cars in the driveway.

Haven’t replaced it yet cause, kind of like you, I’d prefer to have an original windshield replacement. Also, my crack is on the passenger side so not so noticeable. I figure as soon as I replace it, it will get hit by another rock and crack again. 🤷‍♂️

Let me know if you get an original replacement and any advice you may learn along the way. Thanks!!

Adding: I have Allstate also so very interested in how it goes with you.

I would not use Safelight. I had to replace my F-150 WS. They were going to use an aftermarket WS that did not have all the same sound features, etc. on it. I used a company that my dealer uses and they fought for an original OEM WS. I know a couple folks that used Safelight. The job was not done right the first time. My 2¢

Yeah, fill for ya Bro!! Our's is only chipped a bit with just over 6k miles, but we go thru a bunch of windshields here. If you have Ford's windshield camera box behind the rearview mirror, Bronco's install is complicated by a camera alignment tasks for the new windshield. Satelite, et.al. aren't gonna do that for ya. I seen Bronco windshield replacements for $700 to $900. Good luck!!

Unfortunately, many people have had broken windshields. Some have had multiple replacements. This is the very nature of this flat windshield. I had windshield protection film put on within the first week of ownership. It has saved me five to six broken windows. Do a search regarding broken windshields and you will find numerous posts and threads covering the topic that will provide options.

7k miles and 7 months in. Safelite replaced it and re calibrated it perfectly. I had a choice of glass in after market or OEM. No issues since.

Safelite replaced my F250 windshield with an aftermarket glass, it is nice enough for a 2004. I had them replace the windshield on my 20 Equinox after about 4K miles. They recalibrated all the sensors and everything did a great job but the windshield had like a crackle look to it. Like the lamination between the glass was wrinkled. It was not bad but driving west at sunset you could see it. I cleaned that window constantly inside and out. Drove me nuts.

My 1st windshield took a rock... about a year and a half ago. Went through insurance, told them I wanted to use a local shop (which they were fine with). Got the official Ford OEM replacement windshield. Had it installed on a Friday, the following Monday caught another rock going to work. This time I got smart, picked up some RainX windshield repair and filled the crack. Have since caught another rock, did the same. RainX windshield repair is a must in my opinion. Now I can wait to replace it when I feel like it, the cracks are not spreading.

Forgot to add, back then, the windshields were hard to come by. I believe I ended waiting something like 45+ days to get one. I'd imagine there are more of them out there by now.

I am on my third windshield. I used Safelite each time since they came to my job to do the replacement. I have no complaints about their work. I wish I still had the OEM sticker, but the convenience having them come to me was a good trade.

No chips, breaks or cracks here, just rolled over 5K on my 22'. Put this Aerotek II deflector on as soon as my Bronco hit the driveway. Get very few bug splatters as well..in fact I think the interior is quieter with it on as well.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with this on the Bronco yet. I did have to replace two windshields in the Focus within a year. Used Safelite for both. The first time they cracked and broke the plastic trim, and rain guards, and got glue all over the trim. Went to a different Safelite the second time and no complaints with that one. Hope you're able to get it taken care of with good work.

When I purchased my Bronco I made sure I got the Ford Protect extended service plan, I ended up getting the Tire and Windshield plus plan.
Note:
This is more for anybody adding the plan or getting the plan upon purchase of their new vehicle…..
When I cracked my window, I called the local Dealership and they set me up for a time to have it replaced, took about an hour and they replaced it with an OEM window, the window with the Bronco words in the lower right hand corner.
I believe I only pay $9.00 a month for the plan but it has already covered me since owning the Bronco for about 6 Months when a stone flew up and hit me.
I believe these windows for an OEM replacement is around $700 to $1,000 and it didn’t cost me a penny other than my monthly payment for my Bronco.

Glad to hear the plan is worth it. After the two windshields in the Focus, I added that to the Bronco when I picked it up.

My Windshield was cracked at around 6000 miles. I have replacement coverage from my insurance carrier, who directed me to take it to the dealership. My dealership sent me to Safelite where an OEM part was acquired (2 day wait.) Good service and no problems. Colorado eats windshields.

This was my first Bronco Bruise -- shared in another thread here. Rock hit my B on 95 after owning it for 60 days.
I CRINGED --- let's not mention the site of it -- UGLYYYYYY

I nagged until my husband had it replaced.... Apparently Wranglers and well now Bronco windshields are more prone to this ... ugh!! ... and I wanted a Ford windshield/glass .. no aftermarket.

Insurance covered it .. and if you're in the DMV area .. I'd be happy share the company in which we used.

Good luck and hope you get it replaced soon.
