First time poster…owner of 22’ OBX cyber orange…it’s at dealer today for the 1st time (warranty issues)…has anyone else had this issue? Black gum like substance when front roof panels removed? Yesterday it was 80 degrees and it was super gooey to the touch on the panel (and on fingers!) like gum stuck to a shoe on a hot day…this morning ( 60 degrees) more tacky than stringy…it’s off the rubber trim….anyone else?

Weatherstrip or windshield adhesive. Probably had a drip from the gun on the assembly line...I've found a couple of globs on my F150.

Does it eventually subside/ go away? Thanks!

Get some GooGone, WD40, prep solvent or some other adhesive remover (be careful around paint) and that should remove it.

Here in TX now that its 100F out, I am getting it every day on my 21 WT Hardtop.
Its annoying and Ford Dealership basically said it will go away.
Yes it will when it all melts away. I expect it to be a warranty issue soon.....

UPDATE…. The service Dept told me today that he has heard it has been a problem, so he ordered some new rubber stripping(?) and suspects it may become a recall item in the future, but will replace the rubber for now…

It sounds like butyl tape. If it is tar like you can try baby oil that worked great to clean up my 16 year old leaky Cummins block.

You can actually clean it off with alcohol and a microfiber. Then treat the seal with pure silicone. The alcohol removes the crap and the silicone conditions the seal. Will also make the seals last longer.
