Ok, looking for the best fog lights for a modular bumper. I'm tired of scrolling. I can't seem to find any that have good reviews without breaking the bank. Thank for your help

I am looking also for lights for a 24 Wildtrac. As a neophyte, are clear or amber better; do they all plug into the existing auxiliary switches; and finally, are they all generally of same quality...how much does price matter - per the guy above I do not want to spend a fortune if not needed.

Clint, Jim, Lloyd, I don’t claim to be an expert, but what I’ve learned is first you need to define whether you want fog lights that are road legal for driving in the fog on roadways, or do you want non-road legal off-road lights that fit into the fog light sockets to assist in offloading at night or in the fog? Once you make that distinction, it’s a little easier to proceed. From what I’ve seen, most of what are advertised as “fog lights” are in fact, not road legal because they are intended to be off-road lights, and thus are too bright for road use and you will only determine that if you read the fine print. . Legality can vary from state to state. Personally, I stuck with the factory fog lights, knowing they would at least be street legal. And for off-road lights, I started with a set of dual Rigid mirror-mounted off-road lights that are available through Ford Performance. While I may eventually upgrade with additional lights, I have found them to be more than an adequate as a start and they require zero drilling and easily tie into the auxiliary switch system. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info - makes sense for sure. I am leaning more street legal and was also looking at the Rigid off road lights. Tnanks a bunch!

To piggyback on what @EKbrook said. You have to decide what the limit of breaking the bank is and how much fabrication and wiring you are willing to do. If you want plug-n-play get one of the sets from Bronco Nation, 4x4truckleds or SPV and go from there. You can configure the lights anyway you want. There are four options, usually. Fog, Driving, flood, Spot, and a bonus Combo that is half flood half spot. Generally the driving and/or fog lights are SAE street legal the others are off-road only. Also keep in mind aiming the lights could make an SAE light illegal if aimed too high. In my bumper I am running a set of Diode Dynamic (sports) from 4x4truckleds, I happen to have mine set up different than most I have my inner lights the 4 led pod set as a spot light(off-road) . Then I have my center 2 led pod as an amber fog light, and my outer most 2led pod as a clear fog. Each one set to a different aux switch. Most folks make the 4led pod the driving or fog and the outer two spots or floods. But this way I have a choice to what color I can use on road and when and if I need a lot of light I can run both 2-led pods at the same time 1 amber the other clear. Dust, snow, rain and fog amber is usually better. Clear conditions clear light is better. There are some other makers of lights like rough country or oracle I hear lots of folks complain about Oracle getting moisture in the lights, but they seem to have good warranty and are helpful. You have to factor that in as well. You can build your own set by getting the mount from 4x4truckleds and buying pods from Harbor Freight. I am running a set of HF lights as ditch lights I’ve been testing for 7 months I actually really like them. For $60 light they are well made and very bright.

I've got 4 pairs of Diode Dynamics SS3 Pods on my Bronco - an SAE Fog, 2 sets of ditch lights & a set in the rear bumper as reverse lights.
I don't have a modular bumper, but I know they make the 3 light kit for the modular & I'd highly recommend that.

Agree with the advice given. Right now in the industry, there are a lot of options, more so than at any other prior time. So it does make you do some homework.

Remember - YOUR needs, driving conditions, locations being visited, and budget will determine what you should be looking for. My biggest advice - don't buy something you won't really need or use - that is the most cost effective purchase. Also, you are shopping for lights and wiring (harness) and brackets, and fuses and switches if you don't have auxiliary switches, and maybe if you do. That may not be one-stop shopping. Be aware of the amps per switch the lights will pull too.

Don't get too hung up on reviews. Focus on warranty and customer service. When ever I deal with a new company, I contact their customer service and ask how I submit a warranty claim for what I plan to buy. If I am happy with the response, I place the order. Remember that QC is a percentages game - defects can happen. It's what they do about it when it happens to you.

In the past I bought Baja Design because of their reliability and 5000k lights. But in recent years, their is serious competition out there. I did pay premium, but that served me well in the long run since I kept the vehicles. How long you are going to keep the Bronco should also be a consideration.

And, as for Harbor Freight, they have really worked on stepping up their game. Friend of mine has been running their 40" bar, 3X 6" bars, and spot lights for 3 years now with no problem. It was his 'trial run' until he decided what he really needed and wanted. He is still content with what he has and isn't ready to change yet. That was his scenario.

Don't get frustrated. Maybe take a pause, then go back at it again in a week or so.
Good luck and happy trails - well lit trails 😁

Very good points.
I only got the Harbor Freight lights because I was going to install them on my golf cart and I was there getting some parts for my golf cart build and had a coupon. this was right before our Moab trip so to test them I just installed them on the Bronco, the first day I had them installed I needed to use them to help wrangle the neighbors cow that got on the road.

I ended up with these. A little pricey, but I like them and install was super easy. Good luck out there!
