I have a big bend hardtop on order, but I am going back and forth on to sasquatch or not to sasquatch. I feel like I could get a better quality "sasquatch -type" package after market at a better price. Any thoughts out there?

price it out separately with labor....bet it's not that close. Especially when it's also covered by a warranty

Right now, I would say there is no benefit to an aftermarket Sasquatch package. There are not parts on the aftermarket that are superior to the Bilstein set up offered with the Sas package. Maybe the King coilovers, but I think those have a year long wait time. Possibly the 4wp coil overs, but if you're exploring those, you have already far exceeded the cost of the Sasquatch package after install. The leveling / lift blocks (IMO) aren't the right way to lift IFS trucks and for some reason have become astronomically expensive. Tires alone are going to cost you over $2k for four corners. With a spare, mount and balance, you'll be into the 35s for probably $3k assuming you reuse the wheels that come with your Bronco. Something else to think about is the Sasquatch swaps out the diffs for 4.7 vs the 4.46 ring and pinion to help turn the 35s. Sorry for the rambling but there are just so many reasons not to do aftermarket unless you're going bigger than 35s.

No I appreciate the rambling and the feedback. I am not versed enough in the whole thing to know what is best long-term. Warranty is a good point and if nothing else, I think you're right about even the availability of parts. I decided to wait on the Bronco to get the hard-top I want. So I might as well get the package I want as well.

Thank you for the help!

I have lifted every truck ive ever owned and by far love the sasquatch package. Ford took all the guess work out of the gearing and ride quality. They hit a home run with this package.

Ford should offer a Ford Accessories version for the Manual owners and those who didn’t initially get the ‘crotch package

This is exactly my thoughts as well. If you aren’t going bigger than 35s then the Sasquatch is definitely the way to go.

Well, depends on what you plan to do.

I have driven a JKU lifted 3.5” on 35’s for the last 5 years. 17.5 MPG average. I also go trail riding here in Florida, and eventually want to go overlanding out west. I decided not to Sasquatch my Badlands order, and am sticking with the Bilstien Suspension and the 33’s till they wear out.

I will still be more than capable, get better mileage for daily driving, and have the better suspension.

I will save more on fuel (I average 24,000 miles annually). So my situation is different than someone else’s.

Good points. 33" tires will go almost anywhere. Fuel mileage does matter.

It is definitely a good deal for what you get, but if you plan on changing stuff anyway, you should consider:
Wheels and tires are easy to change, anyone can do it. Either way you buy it, if you change them, the OEM set can be sold as take offs to regain some of your expense.
Struts/coilovers are a little more work to change, not a bad job, but you'll have a harder time selling the factory ones.
Depending on your trim package, the front/rear lockers are awesome and would be very expensive to do aftermarket.
The selling point to me on my Badlands is in the gearing ratio. The 4.7s give you extra wiggle room for bigger tires on down the road. I have no problem setting up my own gears, I have done it on a bunch of my own vehicles. Accounting for ballpark $800 in parts per diff (about average for all the gearsets with install kits I've done), plus time involved, the Sasquatch package on a Badlands is well worth the price for gearing alone. Never mind if you plan on paying someone else to do it...

Do you plan to actually wheel it? Rocky trails, uneven terrain, deep mud or snow type stuff? If you will never need lockers, add a lift and tires and love your ride. The Sasquatch provides some proper capability.
I am not the leader. I just like to go first.

Since I am going manual Badlands I will not squatch it. Don’t see the use. But if you plan on wheeling your Bronco or even if you think you might some day I would get the Squatch it is one of those, better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it, kind of things. Also to have a Sasquatch VIN will be pretty desirable for resale reasons. I will probably never sell mine so I don’t care about that.if they offered all of the color options in a base and MT I would go Basesquatch A51 with MT.

In a nutshell the benefits of the Sasquatch package.
  • Factory warranty
  • Lots of R&D already done to make sure everything is right
  • Correct geometry
  • No guesswork trying to piece everything together and hoping it works together
  • No risk that your guesswork ends up being wrong and you end up with a bad ride or premature stock component failure
  • Cost. Probably no way to match the quality of the Sasquatch components used in the aftermarket
Just in tires alone you are looking at least $1500 for a set of five. Add in an inexpensive set of say basic Pro Comp wheels and you are at around $2200. At least a grand for comparable shocks. Then factor in lockers, springs, other necessary components and labor. And you still don't have a factory warranty. And actually risk your factory warranty by using aftermarket parts.

Gremlin: Your comments make me think you have done this before. Reads a lot like my conclusions after modifying 3 J**ps. Yeah, I ordered a Sasquatch & hope to not change a thing. Well, maybe add a winch if I can avoid blocking the front camera.

That's precious. :LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

You have owned 3 Jeeps and don't think you will change a thing. Wait until you pull up to a stoplight next to your twin. The wheels will be turning before the light turns green. LOL

The replies have been a reality check for me.....

Am I going to take a new $50k car rock crawling? Well, probably not.
As cool as it might look, do I really need $7k+ in suspension in a vehicle that the only consistent off-pavement it will see is my 100 yard driveway? Yeah, probably not.
But dang it looks better with it! In reality, I am better off probably with EZAPAR's suggestion - maybe a lift and bigger tires at some point.

I guess I'll just get my offroading kicks at the vegas roadeo!

All depends on your goals. Is your goal just to be able to run tires bigger than stock or larger than 35s, etc. Do you just want the ubiquitous level kit with oversized shiny, matte or bronzed rims?
There are some kits coming online now to modify the existing SAS suspension for 37s, keeping the bilsteins, etc., and most of the suspension parts. Are you building a dedicated rock crawler with 40s? Probably better off building a buggy car but people still dump a load of funds into jeeps and soon broncos for this application.
Are you going for looks, or off road capabilities. Do you want to rock climb or do serious rock climbing or just overland or fast trail running and maybe some water fording?
As noted above, the SAS package, depending on trim level is not just a small lift, suspensions upgrades and 35s. It is gearing and push button locking hubs, etc.
In my mind, if you want 35 or 37s and plan to use it off road, then the SAS is the way to go. If you just want bigger tires, but in reality will not use it much off road, then a basic mod to fit is what is in order.
If you want a bouncing rock truck that will drift all over the freeway with a slightest bump, dump some oversized tires on and one of the economy lifts. Sorry, I live in Texas and there are 10 of thousands of f-d up trucks all over the road that people think look good......

As long as you don’t add a 6” lift then put 35x15.50R24s on it you should be good.
