How bad is the Badlands audio system? I’m someone who loves to turn it up and JAM on the road.

Has it been THAT bad for folks?

If you love listening to music at a descent volume where you can feel it, You will be be disappointed.

Sounds more like a portable radio than a proper system for a 22. Our can am buggy’s have better stock systems in them.

There is two audio systems… The standard 6-speaker audio system and the 10-speaker B&O audio system that comes with Lux package. Nothing trim specific.

The 6-speaker is indeed awful, @LCDRBronco24 isn’t wrong about that.

The 10-speaker is actually pretty good (as you mentioned), but it isn’t great as far as premium audio systems go… and the B&O systems in Ford’s other vehicles are much better. Also… there is a big price jump between High and the Lux package that’s hard to swallow unless you really wanted everything Lux package has to offer. The B&O audio alone isn’t worth the price.

@Ground_zero298… worthwhile to mention that starting in 2023MY Ford upgraded the base audio system to a 7-speaker system with a sub—very similar to the audio system in the Ford Ranger. So if you are looking at taking delivery of a 2023MY or later I’d hold off on buying audio gear. It may not need as much work as the current Broncos.

If you are getting a 2021/2022… then yeah, it’s bad.

The B&O is not overly impressive for the bronco, or the F150. I do use the SiriusXM in my truck with the B&O Unleashed and compared to the bronco B&O HD radio, the bronco sounds better. I understand the compression ration on the satellite degrades the sound, and when I switch to HDRadio, the radio is much much better.
Streaming from my phone thru the radio is about the same.

I like my music, and I like it on the loud, clean side (Doors, Dead, Dylan: the 3 D's of American rock).

I wouldn't say the 6 speaker system is awful. It's Ok for a stock system. I plan on a speaker upgrade to something aftermarket this Winter, with an amp add as well maybe.

I've had it cranked up a bit, and I haven't noticed much distortion. I keep the tone panel open when driving so I can adjust if I need to.

Alright I'll admit "awful" is perhaps too strong of a word.

But, I do think the audio system in the Bronco sounds similar to what you'd fine in a $18k - $25k car/crossover. It is not what you'd typically find today on a $40,000 - $55,000+ SUV.

All that said, I've had new speakers/cabling/amp sitting under my desk for 9 weeks now and I'm still happily driving around the Bronco with the stock audio setup. Obviously it can be that bad because I'm clearly not in any rush to fix the situation.

It’s pretty awful and I have almost nothing bad to say about my Bronco other than the audio system (tow capacity is #2). I upgraded the dash, kick panels amp and sub and it’s pretty good with the top off. I would say it’s comparable the the B&O with upgraded front speakers in volume and just a bit off in spatial sound , with a bit more bass. I just couldn’t pull the trigger on LUX. I think I ended up spending about $550 on the upgrades and it was a mostly fun project (note- I did work in 12v electronics for a long time, so I had a foundation of experience). I think this post on our MI club site details the install. https://michiganbroncos.club/forums/viewthread/20/

Good intel. Just trying to get an idea of where it’s at ahead of pickup on Friday. First time on the interstate, I’m running wide open…

…then taking it off-road the next weekend lol

yeah, it should be better in a $50k vehicle, but I think that's what you're getting with the Bronco.

Hard care off road capability mixed with some things that are more off the shelf/ cheaper. I think they did some trade offs of quality vs. just supplying systems they needed to have.

I'm gonna probably upgrade for sure, but I'm not worried about it right now. Dropping the right hints the next month or so before Xmas might get me some pretty speakers from Santy Klaus.

I have the B&O system. I'm going to start with replacing the front pair, the center channel, and the rears to see what improvement I get. Then maybe the kick panel speakers.

I have the Lux package with hardtop and sound deadening and I think it sounds fine with rock but is nothing to write home about for techno beat music. The bass is not great. I wonder if it’s the soft tops that say the system is terrible. I know it’s hard with convertibles to get good sound.

I have the 10 speaker B&O with a soft top, I think it sounds great. Only minor issue is if I crank it above 20, got a bit of a bass rattle going.

I have the B&O. Clarity is not perfect. But after some adjustments it rocks pretty good. I can see at some point upgrading speakers. I have a shaker 1000 in my Mustang. I thought that was pretty good, I upgraded all the speakers including the sub. Now that system is amazing!

The B&O system in my wildtrak I find to be quite good. I use hd and surround and really couldn't be much happier. Need to consider the type of vehicle.

I have the standard stereo for my Badlands High package. Works fine for me. Only had it a day though, so it will be a little bit before I can give an objective review

I love blasting my music while driving. I thought for sure after reading all of the complaints I would be replacing the sound system. I have a 2dr badlands with the basic interior package. I actually think its fine. There is a setting where you can choose where the sound is coming from. Either front, rear, or center. The sales guy showed me and said it was centered, and I thought it was terrible. I went back into it on my own, and it was actually more towards the front. I adjusted it to a true center and I think it sounds good. Wont be bothering to upgrade it, not unless inflation stops lol.

I have the B&O in my bronco and it rocks. It needs to be in surround sound. Streaming music on Pandora is not as loud as playing a song I have downloaded on my phone. Tweak the treble, mid and bass.

Download this song to your phone, use carplay and crank it.

Haven’t heard stock system, but I have significant hearing loss from years of working on Diesel engines and racing motorcycles but I am very pleased with my B&O system. Better than the sound in both our Raptors.
