Back up camera pretty much sucks

Mine on my basesquatch is just fine but then again I'm old school and use my mirrors more often than the camera.

Just like all backup camera's in inclement weather or dusty roads.

We owned a Kia Sedona for 10 years. Never had an issue seeing out of back up camera. My wife and daughter both have the Chevy Equinox. No problem with their cameras.

Hmm I have a 2020 Nox and it seems to be almost the same as the Bronco don’t have much snow around here but lots of dust and drizzle so it gets spots that make it hard to see. Just have to remember to wipe it with a finger as I walk up to the car.

The back up camera on my Basesquatch is unusable in rain and snow. I suppose the other cameras are the same.

That’s why I have a rag in my car. 🤣

Ford just has to put a teeny-weeny wiper on the lens.

I noticed the issue when raining...make fun if you want, but my Bronco Sport Badlands had front and rear camera washers. Traded up for 2 Door Wildtrak, but that tiny detail of missing a rear camera washer, is a nagging thing.

I'm pretty sure if it wasn't required by law most automobile manufacturers wouldn't even bother putting backup cameras on their base-level trims.

But yeah, it's not great in the rain/snow. The High package (which adds the 360 camera system) adds a higher quality camera system. I don't think it has camera washer on the rear camera, but the quality helps you make out the details even if the camera is a bit dirty.

I'm kind of like @lapazleo though... I have my CDL and spent too many years driving without a camera, so I often forget that it's even there and just use the mirrors. Don't get the wrong backup cameras are super handy, just hard to break that habit.

I've lived a long driving career without a backup camera; benefits of being an old codger, I guess. If we have to worry and bitch about a dirty lens on a rear-facing camera, then man, we have it pretty dang good. LOL

I suppose the bitching is why we have every feature on the bronco. I can imagine the meeting at Ford:

"Before we wrap up this meeting, what's up Squeaky Wheel, you look particularly frustrated today?"

"Yea, I'm pissed! We are in the gotdam 2000's and there's no Bronco in our lineup! And I'm sick of it! Ya hear me?! Sick! Of!! It!!!"

"Hmm.... we'll see what we can do."

And just like that, the bitcher is now the hero!!

I have not had an unreasonable problem with my backup cam, but I'll be happy when they improve the resolution and color curves and also make it so that the camera retracts into a self-cleaning compartment when not in use.

I am on my fifth back up camera and they all suck in inclement weather or dusty conditions. I always try to remember to give it a quick finger wipe when passing by. I do better with mirrors anyway.

It's a box at the back end and collects everything. My wife has a 2016 GMC Acadia and the back up camera gets just as dirty.
