Hi All -

In my order I originally had black mod hard top, then MIC, now soft top to expedite my order. I always planned to get the hardtop at a later time so was bummed as everyone else seeing the news Friday.

Was thinking about my options for roofs over the weekend and was curious, do we think anyone (whether Ford or AM) will ever come out with a hard top roof that is electric powered coming from one of the Aux switches? Sort of like a convertible sedan.

realize that would be at least a few years off given Friday’s news but would be willing to wait for that solution.

Considering the Mustang has a power convertible top, I don't see why they would be opposed to offering one on the Bronco if it was technically and financially feasible?

They could do a real one too, hardwired in. No accessory port plug needed.

I think I've seen a few advertised "hard top convertibles" on luxury cars but I don't know much about how those work.

They are complicated. Its like automotive origami when it goes down.

I always thought it was super cool and interesting that the old sn95 mustangs had power tops.

The compromise of course, was that they didn't have a built in tonneau cover to enclose the top when it's retracted. Chevy went the opposite way with the 3rd gen camaros, a manual top that did feature a nice tonneau cover, but no power mechanism.

I don't know how many people know this, but the mustang had a sliding glass roof for a few years. I can't remember what they called it , it was a pretty rare option.

I absolutely love this roof. It's kind of the ultimate version of what T-tops should have become.

I wasn't referring to a rag top, I was referring to the hardtop you mentioned, ragtops just fold into the well. A hard top goes through all kinds of motions and ends up in the trunk.

And they eat up a lot of space and add a ton of weight.

Yeah sorry for going off-topic, I just find all the various types of convertible roofs interesting. Including my FSB, every car I own has some form of removable roof

That sliding stang roof is bad a--. Something like that or a power sunroof I could see on a Bronco, but a full retractable hardtop is a lot of intricate moving parts to put on an offroad vehicle likely to take a beating in the woods. But on a daily driver or mall crawler...
Practical? Absolutely not, takes up tons of storage space. But, quieter and more insulated and better looking than a ragtop.

Cool factor? You bet! I think they look great and can't beat that transformer-esque folding action!
