Does anyone/everyone else hate this as much as I do? I know it's now required, and there's a button on the dash to turn it off but you have to do that every time you start the car. Not sure if Ford pays attention to this forum, but I really wish they would add an option in the Settings screen to make this setting permanent.

While I'm ranting, I was also surprised that even in the Limited package there's no memory for the seats and other settings.

Don't get me wrong - I've had my Badlands for a couple weeks now and I love it. But even a great thing can be made better...

Hi there. It annoys many others too. There are many options, though. The most popular are:

1. Permanently disable it in FORScan
2. Buy a hardware hack like the Start Stop Eliminator
3. Install the Ford Performance tuning calibration, which causes the vehicle to remember the start stop state between key cycles
4. Use Sport mode, which disables it automatically. This still requires a button press though.

I second this with the manual. If I know it’s going to be a short wait time for a light, or if I’ve just gotten off the highway and want to keep the engine running to cool the turbo I just keep the clutch in, if I think it’s going to be a long wait at a light, or more often in a drive through I just go to neutral and let the clutch out to kill the motor. Having the extra control of the ASS with the manual makes it much less annoying. Have also learned if you want to keep it idling for a few when you get home take your seatbelt off before you let the clutch out and it overrides ASS.

With my '23 BL, Lux, 7-spd, I can disable the ASS with a touch of the button at any time. I'm not limited to doing it when I first start the car. If I'm sitting at a light and the ASS has stopped the engine, I can push the button and the engine fires right up even with the clutch engaged (in neutral, of course).

All-in-all, I don't mind it either way. Just my $0.02.

If you drive in the Sport GOAT mode, the A.S.S will automatically default to "Off" once you put it in drive.

So I usually do this because I like the throttle response better as well. Mine switches to 4x4 advanced though and I switch back to 2 but is that even necessary?

On occasion I'll leave it in 4A, but the majority of the time I switch it back to 2H. I figure it's less wear on the components, and for the most part, our winter here in eastern Nebraska hasn't required the need for 4A or 4H. It's been very dry...

For the auto start/stop and double honk I will be getting this.

Not sure about the 4 door but for the 2 door we get no memory because we can't have power seats. It's so the seats can slide forward to get in and out of the back. Not something I thought about when getting the 2 door.

I'm not sure what you mean by "button press" on #4? Do you mean putting it in Sport mode requires a "button press"?

Between key cycles you’re prompted to return to Sport mode.

That’s about the only “memory” my seats have lol. So long as you do the steps in the right order after accessing the back seat it goes back to the exact same position. The seat belt getting stuck between the side of the seat and the b pillar is annoying though.

snip...Litterally shocked that a couple folks here like it (trolling?) The most of us HATE it.../snip
Definitely not trolling but "like" is probably not accurate. I don't mind it, would prefer it not being there, not sure why anyone would "hate" it. I mean, you're sitting still, what's the big deal? Take your foot off the brake, engine starts. Press in the clutch, engine starts. Things you have to do to start moving anyway. Certainly not spending +$100 to defeat it. All I have to do it push the button at any time if I want it disabled. YMMV.

Anyway, not trying to start anything (no pun intended). Nothing's perfect. I will give you a big +1 on the ole double honk. That is annoying.

Cheers,

WC

HATE because I get a minor heart attack thinking the truck died and got the kiss of death. Also constant engine stopping/starting is horrible it actually hinders gas mileage and put needless wear on the motor. The most stress on a motor is when it actually starts up. Uses more fuel to keep restarting vs idling too unless you're literally sitting still for a prolonged period just the same as turning house lights on and off repeatedly uses more electricity the. Leaving them on for short periods.
Actually, none of this is true.

I know what might be happening in my seats I am glad they have no Memory. 😂

oh and I hate the A.S.S. but I just push the button, unfortunately I don't remember until it has shut off. if you take your foot off the brake at the same time it shuts off(or maybe milliseconds after) it does take a while to start back up. Happened to me while trying to pull into traffic, not a fun feeling.

Ah, the quarterly, I hate the auto start/stop thread.

Does nobody else see the irony of the lengths that people will go to to avoid expending the 1/10 of a calorie of energy to extend their arm and push a button on the dash?
