I believe auto start stop is hard on the engine and plugs no matter what a manufacturer may say. I also find it extremely annoying and a safety issue. I like to have power when I need power. I also don't believe I am saving the planet by using it. The planet is just fine. What do you think?

I totally agree it’s unsafe. If you are stopped at a light and need to get out of there fast (impending read-ender, car jacking, freak incident) you are screwed. How many lawsuits will it take to fix it?

Call me lazy, but I've left it alone over the past few months. I used to religiously hit the "disable" button after climbing in and starting her up. Not anymore. I've gotten used to it. The engine starts right up as soon as you lift your foot from the brake pedal. Doesn't matter where I am or how the vehicle is oriented. It might save some gas. Do I care? Nope. The start/stop feature is not a factor for me. Besides, with the A/C on, it hardly ever shuts off by itself anymore. I dig what you're saying, though. It's overkill. There are a few places around Seattle that bear signage requesting motorists to not idle whenever possible. They're mostly around drawbridges.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

I loathe the A.S.S. I hate having to push the button, I forget until it reminds me by shutting off. I find it funny how shutting the vehicle off while you are in it driving, and being able to start it (for 10-15 minutes) while you are not in it, is a good idea. I use remote start as much as I can but I would gladly give that up if I didn’t have to get the auto shut off.

I think it depends on your travel/traffic...
Maybe it saves gas in stop/go traffic on the freeway. But in rural areas, just because I stop at a stop sign, I dont want this to shut down.
It has to be hard on the starter and oiling of the engine, and for what it is saving on gas/emissions, is costing in the offset of repeated start on oiling and starter heat.

FWIW, my routine, start truck, adjust A/C, set the tunes, hit the start/stop button....every time.

My problem is I don't get to drive my Bronco except the weekends when I can wrestle the keys from my wife so I don't have the muscle memory for that yet.

I wonder how well it is going to work when the vehicle gets a little age on it . It may not want to start as quickly as when new. It's gonna be great when you have cars at the front of the line that shut off at the red light and can't restart, lol.

I don’t have my bronco just yet, but I do have this feature on My VW Atlas and yes I hate it. I turn it off every time. I also believe it is hard on the engine to keep semi turning off and back on especially in a dry desert place where I live (Las Vegas). Even more so in the hot summer months. They are better off discontinuing them across all manufacturers IMO.

Same. It’s not a have to have for me to have the remote start. But I hate the A.S.S. hence its abbreviations are ass!

Hey my friend, I put in "autostop eliminator" on the Black Diamond so no need to push the button. I am just about to take it out of the Black Diamond to get ready to trade it in for the new vehicle. That is why I have been thinking about it. I will install it on the new vehicle as soon as possible. I was especially frustrated when I was breaking in the engine and it would shut off because I forgot to press the button. I am a bit of an engine break in freak. I am extremely particular at breaking in engines and the idea of the engine shutting off in this process is unbelievable. All good, at least there is a fix for people like me.

Me too, because I added it to today's weekly eNews round-up 😉😂 I like reading everyone's takes on why and why not. Sometimes I turn it off, mostly I forget. I will say, having driven old vehicles for forever, it still gives me a split second of "oh I stalled out again..."

I agree.
I have always thought that a vehicle should not be set to automatically shut off when coming to a stop.

But if you really want the ECO mode (auto shut off), you should be able to press a button to turn that on.

My 2 cents on the whole Auto Start Stop, isn’t so much that it shuts down when coming to a complete stop and restarting the engine again and again upon take off, my ex-Jeep had it and I didn’t mind at all.
My problem with it is everything that I have read about Turbo Engines, (the turbo in general) is that the number one rule is not to shut down the engine after it has been running hard for a while.
Example: coming off from an expressway after doing 70 to 80 mph. and then hitting a stop Sign/Light the minute you get off and coming to a complete stop, the engine has not had enough time to put fresh oil around the bearings of the Turbo to cool them off.
They have always said when off-roading not too get on the engine hard and let off fast, but to slowly let your foot off the accelerator, because those turbos need time to cool down for a few seconds using the oil within your engine.
This will prolong the life of your turbos…..
I could be wrong, and that usually occurs 5 times a day on average, so just let me know if you know something I don’t.
