I’m looking at having certain parts of my ride covered with PPF. Purely for protection purposes. My question for those who have done it, would you do the whole hood or just the front quarter of it. My guy said they’ve done both for others. I plan on protecting the hood, painted front piece of trim, and bottom 1/3 of the door panels so far. Just curious what others have done and why. Trying to be budget friendly here.

I did have them do my windshield yesterday when I was having my windows tinted.

Top of the rear tailgate where it hits the rubber for the window.

Can you educate me on this one? Because the window causes scratches or is it a rock magnet for some reason?

I have had two experiences with XPEL PPF. The first was on my 2019 Mustang. I did the clear on the entire front end up to the doors, the A pillars and across the top of the windshield, the rockers across the bottom of the doors, behind the doors on the fenders and right in front of the rear wheel wells. It was money well spent. My second was on the Bronco. This time I went with the XPEL Stealth PPF so I covered all exposed painted surfaces. I have no doubt it will be worth it. I have already taken a couple of shots off the hood and fenders and not a blemish in sight. I would highly recommend that you also get windshield protection film. These windows are magnets for rocks and again, I took a direct hit and the film did its job.

Thanks. Windshield was done yesterday so good there. My C8 has the full PPF treatment but was looking at more of a “what’s really needed” approach on the Bronco vs the full ride.

Nope it's a rub issue.

Ya, the dealer put some PPF around both corners where the top sits, there is exposed metal on the soft top that already chipped it real good, down to the metal it had to be fixed. Not sure how the tops are on other vehicles.

It sounds like they put PPF on your windshield? Just a heads up, usually PPF won't last on a windshield and will be distorted looking through it. I'd recommend what I used: https://www.grab-gard.com/products/ford-bronco-windshield-protection-kit

For my PPF, I went with the full hood, front of the vehicle, and then along the fender wells and back.

Thanks. I probably should have stated that I had windshield specific protection put on (got lazy and referred to it as PPF). So far no distortion issues at all. The warranty is shorter on it than normal PPF. They also recommended sonex on it every six months to make sure the wipers glide well.

I did the XPEL PPF. I went with the full hood because I didn't want to see a line. I don't think you need to do the full hood unless you are going for the completely invisible look like I did. I also had the headlights done, and the grille will be done after I switch it. I also did the full front fenders, A pillars and above the windshield. Since I have the rock rails and plan to get the mud flaps, I opted not to do the lower doors or any similar area, although I considered it.

I did the windshield with STEK Dynoflex at the recommendation of my installer. I've been advised not to use the wipers on a dry windshield for the longest life of the film. The film repels water rather nicely, and the wipers are extremely quiet when in use. I also did my front side windows in 3M Crystalline 30%.

My installer doesn't use pre-cut kits, so the film wraps around. The gloss level matches the painted parts that don't have PPF, so it's an invisible installation. I added the Heritage graphics and am happy with the overall look while I wait for new tires to go with my white wheels. I plan to do the top in white (probably a coating) and swap out for the Heritage grille.

Thanks! Love the look you’re going for there as well. I’m probably going partial hood as I can live with the line and pretty much the rest as you’ve described in the front. Now I just need to figure out a second vehicle for the week they will need my ride and I can get it scheduled.

When mine arrives next month I'm having adding the clear bra to the front and doing the door edges & corners by the hinges so I don't chip the paint when removing and replacing the doors.
