So I live in the San Diego area and I see many dealers with broncos for sale, many different ones too, even First Additions!! Makes me mad that they allocated so many to dealers when we the public are just waiting .

Many of those 'for sale' listings are just inbound customer orders.. their systems automatically put them online.

It was a nice thought they would take care of the customers first with the reservation system. However, who knows if it is the situation the dealerships have to deal with (low stock due to chip shortage) or if this was the intended plan (keep personal orders low, give to the dealerships first so they can sell them at a ridiculous mark up or simply make a higher demand for their product). I’m sure in the long run it will work out (simply because we have a I want it now society), but for me I’m really questioning my loyalty to Ford at this point.

I can tell you it's not just Ford. Look around and most dealers have very few vehicles in stock. I know the dealer near me has a very empty lot with very few choices of vehicles. I would never leave Ford and will be waiting with my arms open once the Bronco is done. And again like you said, maybe they are filling orders to dealers that ordered first!!

Not saying it’s just Ford. Toyota just announced they are cutting production dramatically as well, due to chip shortage. But you would have to be blind if you didn’t see it has created an opportunity for the dealerships to price gauge. The average individual buys A vehicle every couple years. Where as a dealership is a continuous buyer year in and year out. I see why they would take care of them. I’m just wondering if getting the vehicles to the dealers at a higher rate is a business decision and if it was in the plans. I’m interested to see if Toyota does the same thing with the redesigned 4 Runner for 2023. Create there own supply and demand to drive prices up.

They do that hoping someone will offer them more, they sell it out from under the reservation holder to the top bidder.

I'm only reporting what I saw, I suspect they're actually mostly customers with a dealer order in the mix

I am sure it is all over the place. Certainly some dealers have vehicles for sale, some are selling their demos and making the buyer wait on it until it can be sold and others are fantasy vehicles. I’ve called and popped in on many dealers, and the listing have all been either in transit, a customer vehicle or their demo that is not for sale. But I am sure there are dealers with vehicles for sale, just none I have spoke with.

I am in the NOLA area, I have an ordered (late Feb. no vin)

dealership across town has the demo, assures me I could buy one he is receiving in late Sept (claims to have a BB, BD, OB) he attempted a 5g ADM, I told him I was locked in at MSRP across town and proceeded to attempt the sale of a future in stock vehicle that he has build sheets for.

outside of this I corrected him several times about things he was trying to sell me on: You guys know we are all getting a hardtop on Ford's dime in 2023....

I am still with my reservation as I want to build MY BUILD, and my salesman has been as honest as he can be.

I'm sure both dealership's have access to these boards so I will refrain from name bashing/and promotion however anyone in my area can go look and do the math.
