Saw this on the news - drunk driver. It doesn't appear to be a rollover; the front and possibly rear got impacted, but I am most concerned about the fact that the roll bars seem to have caved into the back seat from this impact. That seems like it could have really injured someone in the back seat... from a frontal collision??? I have some serious concerns about Jeep's safety. I have seen more Jeeps that have been utterly unrecognizable after an accident than Broncos.
With all due respect, that's the point of crush/crumple zones. The vehicle looks bad because the energy of the accident is transferred and absorbed around the passenger compartment.
Also, the "sports bar" isn't damaged in that picture, but the window frame or portion of the top appears to be bent or broken. As stated by Extreme Terrain (they sell aftermarket cages), "the factory sports bar and frame of the Jeep is still very sturdy and
arguably more solid than an ordinary vehicle’s unibody structure, which is typically comprised of lightweight aluminum." (emphasis added) The sports bar provides a steel "cage", but it isn't tied in to the front. The "weak link" (if there is one) to the cage is the windshield frame.
