Yes. Get your dealer to get rid of the double honk or you can do it with Forscan.

That, and the auto-stop at red lights, are the two things that new Bronco owners want to eliminate most often. I gather it's extremely simple--your dealer should do it as a courtesy.

And add Sports mode if you don’t have it!

I don’t know about Maine, but in some states the dealer can’t mess with auto start/stop. But you can do it all yourself with Forscan.

I have driven Fords for years and therefore have become used to both of these issues, and mostly don’t notice them…

The double honk has saved me a couple times from walking away when I “thought” I had turned the rig off and exited…

The auto start/stop is easily turned off, and again, I don’t pay it much mind… however, I am admittedly really light on the gas pedal coming off red lights… if I have to give someone a lesson I drop OB1 into Sport and the problem is solved…

I agree with the OP. The horn honk makes me jump out of my skin if I don't leave the fob in the Bronco upon exiting.

I've grown accustomed to the engine cutting off when I stop so it doesn't bother me.

This past week we were camping with several other Broncos at Big Bend we were with several other non Bronco folks it was kinda funny every one would fire up their broncos to warm up and there were lots of honk honks I sure we were annoying all those non bronco owners. If you don’t shut the door all the way it won’t honk. But it does honk if either driver or passenger door is shut.

$92 just to eliminate auto stop/start? A Bronco is an expensive hobby, but sheesh....

I worked out a relationship with a Ford dealer tech who does all my electrical work, like accessory installation. I pay him his overtime rate, which is lot cheaper than any repair shop will charge me, dealerships especially -- win-win. He's very qualified to eliminate or alter those Forscan issues

Next time you're at the dealership, ask to speak to the guy who worked on your car. Tell him you appreciate his good work, and shake his hand with $20-30 in it. Then: 1) ask for his name and phone number, and 2) always insist that he work on your truck when you're having dealer work done.

If you get on that CJ Pony Parts website you will start buying everything that's a hundred dollars, before you know it you've spent a thousand bucks. lol

You shouldn't leave your vehicle running unattended for several reasons, but the easiest work-around is to not shut the door completely so that it latches. No honk. Your next best option is For[d]Scan because that will give you access to some other features you might like to adjust. For example, I changed the key fob emergency button to require a double-press, as it's easy to accidentally have that button pressed while the fob is in your pocket. Hopefully Ford will just put some of these customizations in the Sync Settings.

I wish there was a quieter horn/beeper for all of these sounds, including arming the alarm. Reserve the horn honk for drivers who deserve it. 😀

I bought a plug that you can program all these things in to stop them along with setting correct speed. Plugs into the OBD port and works great and easily. Cost about $150 but I never could get forscan to work. It’s from a major manufacturer but can’t remember the name. Will put up as soon as I get home

There are a variety of bothersome features for our own safety which roughly translates to "we don't want to be subject to liability." Ford is not alone; all manufacturers assume we, the operators of the motor vehicles, do not have common sense.
As to this 'variety' - for now I will just share - when driving on a highway, and achieving speed of approx 60-65, the motor vehicle digitizes a notice: "Check Brake System" or something similar. So my initial drive on an interstate, this notice alerted me to something. So I unsafely pulled over onto the shoulder to look through the 400 or so page manual to determine just what the heck I should be checking as to the brake system. I still have no idea.
I am only on this blog about every four months maybe less. So while I am here I will start a post about this 'check brake system' notice.

the unit is a Flashcal for Bronco from Superchips.. can't remember what I paid but in the $150 range..it will change a lot of things..I wanted it for the honk disable, but mainly to calibrate my speedometer after putting larger tires on it.
