Can we get an official word from ford (or anybody who knows for sure) if these overhead grab handles near the airbags are safe to install? wont prevent the airbag from deploying/hurting you? IAG-BDY-F1101-OPT-11__25144.1647530175.jpg

Good question and hadn’t even thought about that. Interested to hear the answer.

I would highly doubt that Ford would ever endorse them. If someone would use them and have some type of injury, then Ford could get sued.
With that being said, I'm not sure how they could hinder the deployment of the side curtain airbags. The handle is using existing bolts so that panel was meant to stay fastened at the top.
Not sure what would happen if someone was holding on to it when the airbag deployed but my guess is that the airbag would travel downwards as designed.
Take a look at this video.

yep thanks

based on this footage it seems that the panel "flips up" instead of explodes outward. meaning any handle would flip up also.

completely safe

I had the exact same concern until I realized that all modern vehicles with side airbags have factory installed grab handles directly over the same location.
