I’ve ordered a BD edition and was able to get everything I wanted except for the 12 inch screen. Will I be able to replace the 8 inch for a 12 inch screen through ford dealer? Does anyone know or have an idea?

It's probably not going to be a simple job . The first thing I see is that the entire dash plate across the front would also need to be swapped then there is likely to be a different module that connects to it than does the 8" variant . Most likely will not know until someone actually gets a hold of one .

I don’t know for sure but like @Rydfree stated, it will likely we a very costly and complicated endeavor. Are you simply looking for a larger screen or is there a specific functionality that you want to be prominent on the 8” screen? (Some of which may be available via aftermarket solutions)

No you won't be able to do this. the 8 inch and 12 inch are different architecture of the vehicle internals. example: modules, wiring, etc.

Just looking for a larger screen to be able to see the camera’s picture better for backing up or rock crawling. I’ve never owned a vehicle that has a digital screen in it, so I don’t know what a good size is for it. Just worried the 8 will be a little small

Dang it. That’s a little disappointing, just worried about the size of the 8 being a little small to see the cameras clearly.

From prior experience replacing a screen/system in a vehicle, I'm sure it's possible. Expect it to be at least $2000 plus the cost of replacing the dash trim.

I guess I might just have to change my order to a Badlands or Wildtrack and fork over the extra money on a higher trim that I can get the high package on rather than spending all that money afterwards if it’s even gonna be possible.

Keep in mind the 8” display has been in production for sometime and the Super Duty has been using it with 360 camera system since 17MY.

If you are worried about the 8” you have 3 options.
1. Upgrade to 12”
2. Check out a Super Duty at a dealer with 360 camera
3. Or wait to see if there will be an aftermarket option.

12” was introduced I think with the 21MY F150.

I have an 8ish inch screen in my current vehicle. You won't have any problems with the view.

Yes, it will be an AM product just like most any screen is these days. BUT The catch will be what is actually needed to convert to that 12" screen behind the scenes (component, modules, etc) and at what cost is the unknown at this time. As said above maybe look into the F150 and see what they have

For comparison in my Jeep it had a 7” screen which was a huge improvement over the 4” screen, I think you may be ok with the 8”

Thank you, I’m probably just overthinking it. Like you said I’ll probably be fine with the 8”. This will be my first time buying a brand new vehicle, so I’m overthinking a lot of features I think when I see other trims compared to my Black Diamond choice.

I can see the backup camera just fine on the wifes 8" screen but if you are talking about the 360 cameras , I don't think they are available except with the 12" screen . I think that is Fords reasoning behind tying that to the high pkg .

It is my understanding that you have to get the high pkg to get the 360 camera.

You can get it in the badlands with lux package. That’s what I have ordered.

Yeah that’s what I’m leaning towards now is upgrading my trim. I guess I have until March 19th to make that decision, but don’t want to wait until the last second to change it

As said above maybe look into the F150 and see what they have as it will most likely be identical to that setup as far as wiring, harness, etc

Not as easy of swapping a harness. They are completely different architecture. Not backwards or Forwards compatibility.

Best way for me to put it:

Example with computers motherboard A is design to hold a AMD processor and motherboard B is designed to hold an intel processor. You cannot put an intel in MB A or vice versa AMD in MB B.

Also my current ride is a 14MY Explorer with an 8" LCD. The backup camera feature is plenty good enough with the camera it is equipped with. If I had a 12" the camera picture might be very pixilated.
