I own a 2022 Bronco Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 7 speed manual transmission. Bought new from the Ford dealership I work for... Since the first day it has made a light grinding sound when a cold start occurs and idling in neutral. I checked with our service department and after 11 months they finally received word from Ford there is an issue with the syncros. I'm told they will need to take the transmission apart and replace the bad syncros...? Obviously I'm not happy about this at all. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, have you had it fixed with success?

For reference - I'm not new to Fords;

I learned to drive a manual transmission on my grandmothers '68 Bronco with 3 on the tree
My first truck was a 1988 Bronco II manual
My second truck was a full sized 1991 Bronco
Additionally I've owned a 2016 Ford F150 FX4, a 2017 F150 Lariat and a 2018 Ford Superduty F250 Lariat

This is the first truck I've had a real issue with...

I much like you are not new to Ford or Bronco's or even manuals . I also had issues I noticed the difference right out the door everyone told no it's just the break in period ( really). So mine went with 1200 miles on it. So after months of arguing with Ford 5 claims I was told I was responsible because I am a female and did not know how to drive. So $4000 later and to top it off the dealership did not pay for the rental and enterprise decided to send me no notice or billing statement just helped themselves to my bank account ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ˜ก

I'm sorry to hear that - not cool! I documented every call and email I had with our service department for that reason - and I work at a dealership lol!

I was wanting the 7 speed but not the 2.3 ... finally opted for the 2.7 with 10 speed auto. Maybe I am glad I went like I did.

The deciding fact for me was trail turn assist, not available with the 7 speed manual. The granny gear option was very appealing though the 94.6 crawl ratio .

I developed the grinding noise and eventually had the synchro gears replaced as per the Ford TSB. Outside of the technician forgetting to put fluid back into my transfer case after replacing the synchro gears, which Ford kindly and quickly replaced at their cost, the issue has not returned. Hopefully, this will continue to be the case for the duration of owning my Bronco.

That's good news and I appreciate you sharing it with me. I'm a little nervous about tearing apart the trans on a new truck but sounds like it has been done successfully - so there's that! lol

The salesmen especially assume that others can't drive a manual transmission because they can't. The younger they are (service manager sales etc) the worse it gets.

Try your truck in 4L. You can walk next to it. Also use trail speed control not sure the manual has it. The 2.3 was the deal breaker for me too, glad I got the 2.7 mine gets up and goes! Also Use Forscan and get EVERY GOAT mode

Itโ€™s a real bummer to have so many problems with these transmissions right out of the shoot. That certainly doesnโ€™t inspire long term confidence. May be a candidate for an extended drivetrain warranty.

The good news is its a bargaining chip in the used market.๐Ÿ˜ˆ
