Owner Manual says 7 quarts for 2.3 + 2.7 but dealer + most forums are saying 6.Does Ford want you to run a quart low to smoke the motor?Guess will drive mine home ,put in garage and drain the pan to find out.Know in the F 150 2.7 is 6.Articles before Bronco release said woud be 7 quarts to compensate for steep angles.Just would like the right answer!

Well contact Ford and ask them. Better to say that if something goes wrong you say Ford told you to do so.

There is a lot of questions and drama around it. Rumors around incorrect dip sticks, typos in the manual, etc.

It's all in the process of being updated, but if you want to know now contact your dealer's service department and ask them to pull up the following service bulletins:
  • SSM 50981
  • SSM 51014
EDIT— Realized I was kind of beating around the bush a bit—didn't mean to do that. It's 6 quarts. But if you ask your dealer and they say 6 quarts then you can say with certainty that your dealership's service department advised you it was 6 quarts. Better than "random guy on internet said 6 quarts".

It would be nice if Ford were to explain why there has been so much confusion regarding oil capacity and various dip stick part numbers. It befuddles me as to why a dry fill at MAP would be 7.5 qts but service change is 6? Did my first oil change yesterday. I drained 7 qts and put 7 qts back in. Until such time that Ford explains the change in capacities, first 7 qts in the manual now being edited to be 6 qts, I am sticking with 7 qts.
