I'd drive that '79 all day over that '88! My dad had a '79 F100 and I loved it, but he sold it without even telling me. I had a '90 Ranger and it was nice, but didn't have the same classic feel... it's not something I'd seek out to drive again. Main difference I guess is whether you'll spend a lot of time interstate driving, in which case the smaller one might be easier on the wallet at the tank. Probably has a V6.

I never ”got” the full size Bronco (blazer)...too big to fit on the trails and too small to haul much. I had a ranger I really liked so iit woul’d be Bronco II for me but actually neither! The early Bronco was the best size, power train and utility...loved mine. Wish this new one was like that...I will make do...

You couldn't pay me enough to drive that death trap branded as a Bronco II. Some fanboys on here will tell you how great it is, but it's a very top heavy vehicle based on the ranger chassis. Since it's based on the ranger it has the smaller drivetrain and if you plan on ever going offroad you're going to have to beef up a lot more components than you would on a real Bronco. The 79 is based on Ford's f-series trucks, which we all know are unkillable.
