Now that Broncos are reaching their owners, what are your plans for handling the break in period?
1. Limiting Speed?
2. Limiting RPMs?
3. Mileage for First Oil Change?
4. Special fuel? Or some sort of additive?

What other things will you be careful with?

Dealer to 14,000 ft to see how well she does on the numerous switchbacks and at altitude, then back down to Denver via the dirt roads. Well, and I guess thats given the roads still open for the season when ever I do get the WT

900 mile drive home from picking it up from dealer. Using back country roads, hiways, and byways. Should be enough speed and rev variation. Maybe some easy dirt roads as well. Just wish I knew when it would be!

Read if you baby a car, it'll be a pig, so I'll just drive it like I stole it and also like it's a normal day and then get an oil change at or around 1,000 miles as well.

Also, if I'd spend $60 (after s/h) for a KN filter, whats a few extra bucks for Super?

this has been a debate amongst car enthusiasts and engine builders for decades... for the break in period - drive it like you normally would (Drive it like you stole it), which helps the rings seat properly (allegedly), or take it easy, no high RPM, no heavy loads, no towing, no high speed or long duration drives, all with the intent of 'breaking it in' ...

You'd think after decades of this same debate there would be a better vision for the break-in from the industry.

Yeah, I also make my first oil change at around the 1000 mile mark. Always figured there might be some contaminants from engine assembly and figured it couldn't hurt anything to just change it.

actually, the oil they put in for the break-in period is usually different than the oil you'd normally run - break in oil has (or at least back in the day, it used to have) increased detergents as well as lubricants to help with keeping everything well-lubricated while everything is still really tight... I'm not sure if changing that out at 1000 miles is a good idea or not

I've always subscribed to the school of thought run it hard to seat the rings. The last new motorcycle I bought I did a burnout with 0.2 on the odometer. I say beat it like it owes you money. That's the life it signed up for, better to get used to it now!

Depending on the time frame of delivery maybe a weekend of Northern California highway speeds (and stops). Along with coming back over the mountain into Nevada. Beyond that just normal hard driving and a 1000 to 1500 mile oil change.
Always premium. I will need to do a little more research on when to start the fuel additive I typically use as right now I have a high millage commuter car and a old truck with about 15,000 miles on the new crate motor.

That's interesting @Calgecko. I'd not heard that before, but it makes a lot of sense.

And (sigh...) that's just the opposite of the advice I've always heard (and by the comments to far it looks like a lot of us have heard too) about changing oil early (at 500 to 1,000 miles) to get potential metal particles or other debris out.

If that's true, then it probably wouldn't be a great idea. I thought that was more of a urban legend though. I've got to resort to google and see what I can find out.

I don't think that's what the auto manufacturers are doing, using break-in oil. I think machine shops and engine rebuilders might, but I doubt the manufacturers are. I remember using a detergent/break-in oil when rebuilding engines. My dad made a point of it, but again, I don't think that's what auto manufacturers use for delivery of new vehicles.

Everything that I've found so far is saying that Ford does not use any type of special break in oil as you said.
