Hello I just bought a Bronco in the Netherlands but I am getting confused about the vin number
It’s AC2MGG83277 and I try to find the correct information about this truck
They say it’s a 78 but I came from Mexico and all the papers from there say it’s a 86
Can anyone help me out telling me what year the truck is from and how to find.
Any information about this truck

thanks in advance Fred

Here's a VIN decoder link that will accept 11 digit VIN's. the number in your pic does not appear to be a VIN. Might want to check the vin tag on the lower right of the windshield or the door tag to see if it is there.

These numbers are all the same even in the windscreen
The number I posted is the one from underneath the passenger seat
I checked them all and all three are the same numbers
That is what’s so strange at these numbers

You should take a photo of the vehicle and post it.

If this is a Bronco, it definitely was not manufactured in the United States. Ford switched over to the 17-digit VIN numbering system in 1981, so it isn’t a 1986 Bronco. It is also likely not a 1978 either, as the first three digits of the VIN should be U15.

According to this post on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum site, it's nearly impossible to decode a Mexico Bronco VIN without a Mexican Ford Truck Parts Catalog;

Here's a snip of the original question (VIN is same format as yours)

And the response:

It may be faster to send a letter/email to Ford Headquarters to see if they can provide information from their production records.

Hope this helps, good luck in your search.

Yeah @frdfan is correct. I looked through my books but I don’t have the Mexican Truck Parts Catalog—I got the United States, Canadian, and Australian catalogs… but nothing for Mexico. I do think it is odd that it says “Hecho En Mexico” (Made in Mexico) when the Bronco has never been assembled in Mexico.

But if you post a picture of the outside and interior of the Bronco we should be able to tell what model year it is fairly quickly

I don't if that's correct. Ford might have made a "Bronco" in Mexico for Mexico, and called is something else. Ford has manufactured in Mexico since 1925

Would love to see pictures of the "Bronco"

Yeah I would love to see a pictures too, would answer a lot of questions.

I know for sure that the Bronco has been assembled in Venezuela, Austrailia, Kentucky (for Bronco II), and… of course… in Michigan. But I am fairly confident it was never assembled in Mexico. The current Bronco Sport is the only Bronco I am aware of that has been assembled in Mexico.

BUT… Mexico may have different standards than we do in the USA. For all I know… it may only need to contain 5% Mexican components for it to be qualified as “Made in Mexico”. In which case it could have been assembled in Venezuela with a few components sourced from Mexico and still labeled as “Made in Mexico” to appeal to the Mexican market.

Just texted my father to see what he knows. He worked for Ford at their Arizona Proving Grounds starting in the 1980s, and I know he worked on Ford vehicles intended for the Mexican market.

AHHHH…. thanks for that.

That my friends is a Frankinbronc’. 4th generation body with a 5th generation front end/grille. @Telekraan … it would be a 1987 - 1991. I would need to see the interior and rear-end to nail down the exact year, assuming the interior is original (which it may not be given the rest of the vehicle).

It definitely is NOT a 1978. It could potentially be a 1986. If the entire front-end was replaced (probably was in a wreck) they could have replaced the body panels as well. Or it could be a 1987 model year Bronco that was assembled in 1986. But definitely not a 1978.

I'd be willing to say that VIN tag has been taken from another vehicle and rerivited onto whatever it is you have. Good luck on your search.
