Has anyone had problems with the transfer case and goat modes. If so how was it resolved?

Mine started with a check 4x4 warning screen and repetitive messages on my phone.I sent it in for service at Duval Ford in Jacksonville. They had it for a few days and returned it saying that it was just a bad connection which had been fixed.

2 days later I started getting the same warning screens, so back to the dealer. This time they had it for a week and a half and replaced the transfer case control module. I verified that the transfer case was actually eganaging when I picked it up. It seemed fine.

About a week later the screen were back and none of the goat modes, lockers or 4x4 were working.

The most recent news from the dealer is the transfer case shifter unit is bad. That was over 10 days ago. Today they’re telling me there’s is no ETA on the part.

THAT doesn’t sound promising from a reliability standpoint. Good luck with the resolution and keep us posted

That blows. I have a 2021 MT BL. No transfer case issues. Keep us posted.

Do you only use goat modes to adjust your 4x4 system and how often do you use your goat and/or 4wd system?

Did you drive it in deep water?

I cycle through the manual 4x4 settings every month on mine and drive em engaged in "C" low speed straight lines to condition offroad components and make sure everything works. This means I turn on and test all my independent Badlands 4WD systems (4A, 4H, 4L, Lockers, Sway Disconnect, Crawl Gear, Traction off). *However, I rarely if ever adjust my goat modes. Feel like goats could have gremlins because of its complexity. My mountain goat stays in "Normal Mode" all the time whether I'm in 2WD or 4LO. If you know how and when to operate each 4x4 feature on its own and in proper combinations, you really don't need goat modes.

So sorry to hear about your issues. Be sure to document everything - it seems like you have an excellent beginning of a Lemon Law replacement.

Sorry to hear about these troubles, hopefully it’s a short wait for you.

Are you able to drive it in 2H? Or stuck at the dealer?

I’m 1500 miles shy of your odometer reading, and all systems go at least for now. Manual badlands Nov21 build.

I decided to contact the Ford Motor Customer Service today to see if they could give me an ETA on the "no ETA part". They were really concerned and contacted the dealer to see what part # was needed and so on.

Turns out that this part I've been waiting for over a week, is and has been in stocking ready for immediate shipment.

"Good Afternoon Mr..,
I was calling back in to follow up with you about the status on your part. After speaking with a parts specialist there is no delay or back order on the part we currently have the part in stock now."

Why is the dealer making up stories about an this unattainable part when in fact it is in stock? Short staffed? Been joy riding?? Seems I may have more of a dealer issue than a Ford Bronco issue.dont-worry-my-dad-is-a-television-repair-man-hes-got-the-ultimate-set-of-tools.jpg

I just use "normal" mode too. I haven't really used the 4 wheel drive with the exception of a couple of trips down on the local beach. When I get it back from service going to make a point to use the of the 4 wheel drive modes and a regular basis. Was kind hoping the going manual would have obviated some of the tech issues. It'll be interesting to see who puts the first manual transfer case in one of these.

Ughh.. sorry this happened to you. Slowly, with more Bronco's coming to town, the bugs are starting to emerge. It goes without saying for a rig that so many have waited so long for, FMC better have the s##t together when these Broncos hit the road.

mT BL goat modes just Gimic for throttle position input as far as I can tell and Ford hasn’t said any different for MT. I set mine manually no issues. I’ve never see anything that suggest goat modes can do anything different from manual settings of your own and throttle input response depending on goat mode. Try eco mode and switch to normal mode without moving your foot and you will feel it pick up immediately. Just throttle position input tuning

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

Not just throttle response, but if you have an auto it also changes the shift points, you MT guys don't have to worry about that. :) Also, if you have a Badlands, Wiltrack, or FE it makes some suspension adjustments as well. I've done some experimenting, and I can really tell the difference between, for example, Baja mode and Sand mode when it comes to throttle response, etc.

There is no electronic control of suspension like magnetic dampen control only anti roll bar control in Baja mode up to 20 mph

I must have misunderstood the part of “Baja Mode - Badlands,™ Wildtrak™ and First Edition models, it optimizes suspension and other systems for improved performance on loose terrain and sand. (Baja mode is not available on Bronco Sport).” that refers to the suspension. This is directly from Ford’s website. https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ission/ford-bronco-terrain-management-system/

They had problems but most of the problems were because people treated the cars like a red headed step child.

I attended the NH OffRoadeo last Oct and they told us the manual 4x4 settings were better for most situations.

I had a similar problem with mine a week into ownership. I had it on the Outerbanks in NC and was cruising along in sand mode when my dash lit up with warning messages: Service AdvanceTrac, mode not available. According Ford, there’s a faulty ABS connection that triggers the faults.
I’d gladly take a manual transfer case over the GOAT mode tech.

No GOAT modes with a manual lever I guess..well, maybe not, maybe all the GOAT modes would still work since they are probably just electronic modifications to systems (software, not hardware)...
