Long story short, my best friend lives in Belton, but I figure Greenville is 40 mins away, and considering I drive 40ish weekly to the City for work, and I'll drive 12ish hr's to get there, figure why not go to the city, get a room there and possibly get a roll out couch in case he wants to crash for a night and we can chill in the city together.

I don't care for tourist traps, I want the authentic experience, and while I might go before I get the new girl, still would return with her down the line. Might head there in a months time, still figuring things out, but yeah, might as well ask here.

Thanks in Advance

There is Pickens ORV Park, there is also Gulches OHV Park (Jeep Badge of Honor) a little south of Greensville, SC.

I was there years ago, did some construction work in Taylor’s and Greer, plenty of scenic drives and some parks to visit.

Greenville is an awesome little town. I'm outside Charlotte but my daughter goes to Clemson so we're down there quite a bit! AA baseball stadium has a replica Green Monster like Fenway. The restaurants and bars typically have live music most nights. Reedy River Falls runs right through downtown. There is a trolley that is free to hop on /off. Check out https://www.visitgreenvillesc.com/

BTW - I married a Jersey Girl and we drive back and forth to Morris County every summer. 78 to 81 to 77 to 85 is such an easy trek. If you are looking for the scenic route, you could head west on I40 to Asheville and then head south to Greenville In my opinion, the more time in the mountains the better. Awesome waterfalls in the Hendersonville Area. Chimney Rock State Park, Grandfather Mountain, Boone/Banner Elk NC. The Pisgah National Forest is nice. If it's warm enough there's sliding rock.

I am from Greenville but @2ndGenBroncoOwner did an excellent job hitting the highlights. Downtown is a must do, many cool shops, restaurants and bars. Is also where Coors field (if you want to take in a baseball game) and Falls Park are located. Greenville is located in the foothills so many options for scenic drives as well. Travelers Rest is located just north and is cool. Asheville, NC is very cool with many spots for craft beer and where the Biltmore Estate is located which I highly recommend if you get over that way.

That is the big city for folks around the up-state South Carolina. Wife is from Anderson …. so I familiar with the area. Great people and plenty of outdoors activity around that area. My suggestion is get out into nature and do some hiking/camping. Table rock state park is great .. and links up to the Foothills trail. https://foothillstrail.org/ I have hiked a few sections and this is a well maintained trail .. Sassafras mountain is a must see. If your feeling adventurous and want a little thrill seeking this is top notch https://noc.com/chattooga-river-sc/. I have rafted some crazy ass white water ( gauley river in west Virginia in the fall is epic!!! https://aceraft.com/white-water-rafting/gauley-river-rafting/) This river in SC will not disappoint. The lower section is called 5 falls and you have some 6 or 7 feet plunges that will get the blood flowing.

The https://discoversouthcarolina.com/articles/10-things-you-might-not-know-about-the-jocassee-gorges area is beautiful and there is a little know spot called stumphouse mountian that will not disappoint. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stumphouse_Mountain_Tunnel

Get out in the woods my friend. Upper state SC is a hidden jewel. Greenville is nice … but if you seen one city you seen them all

Definitely agree with all of the above! Another day trip from that area is over to the Brasstown Bald in GA. If you plan a Sunrise or Sunset it's so cool. The drive can be a bit harrowing with all of the switch-backs and the descent definitely requires a low gear... Think Hill Descent Control. From the peak's observation center, you can see NC, SC, GA & TN. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/georgia/drive-ga-highest-natural-point/

Then head over to a little taste of Germany in Helen, GA Helen, GA

Thanks guys, taking this all down, hopefully I can bring my friend along for some of the fun as well.

Haven't had good German in ages. Next question is no one masks there right? I mean, know big chains are all "special" about it despite all the data proving how useless masks are, but if I wanna go into a store, not gonna get the NPC employee's zeroing in on me like up here, right?

I am about an hour away from Helen. Cool little place. You can do some tubing as well.

State park has a beach on the lake and there are hiking trails as well.
