Taking Possession: Things To Look For

Title says it all.

We have seen examples of mismatched seats on delivered units. Also sratches to the frame from soft top operation. Numerous warning lights that appear whenever they feel it is appropriate to do so and everything in-between has also occurred.

The hard top has know issues but it might be nice to know what to look for.

Is there anyway that someone can put together a basic checklist of items to look out for in a 2021 Bronc based on some of the issues that have popped up thusfar?

I dunno maybe this can be the thread where we compile the list.
I looked at a mannequin this past weekend and I noticed the Cowl seemed to be pushed up near the antenna I tried to snap it back into place but it just kept popping out. Very cosmetic issue but it was driving me nuts. Also the soft top takes a bit of force to latch it back after you tip it up to access the rear of the Bronco.

I got to drive one yesterday and the salesman had the same issue with the side top. I didn't see any other issues, just some creaking and vibration noises. Kinda glad that my order is forced to being a 22MY.

This is a minor nitpick as well, but I was watching this video the other day and the first thing that stuck out to me like a sore thumb was the placement of the keyless entry pad. It's totally off kilter from the body line. It looks like the realized they forgot to put it on like 5 minutes before delivery and just slapped it on.

I would verify all the safety features work: Blinkers, headlights, brake lights, etc. before leaving the dealers lot.

There is a video where someone was installing pod lights on their mirrors. They had removed the cowl screws and popped it up to run the cables. When reinstalling the cowl piece it did the same thing and wasn’t snapped all the way down. I would loosen the cowl screws, remove the antenna, pop the cowl piece up and then re install starting on the drivers side and working across to the passengers side. Double check the clip points and make sure none are broken. Hopefully an easy fix.Oh and open the hood up to help with access

What was your tire change? How big of a difference is it making with your speedo?

I have a small scratch from the soft top bracket on the driver’s side down post. The top definitely moves differently depending on which side you try to lift it back up from.

There is a latch that hold the soft top down in the mid section of the roll bar on both sides. On mine the driver’s side latch pin need to be adjusted so it would latch. I was able to do it myself but it takes a large star socket to do it.

When taking the rear window out you will need to lift up the cloth top to access the clips. At both corners there is a plastic piece that gives the top rigidity, those will flip up. When you put the top down you may feel the need to fold those corners back down. If you do, they will get caught on the back corners of the top and when you go to pull the top back up they will snag. You will have to fold the corners back up first.

When the top is open you may feel the need to close the front latches so they are not sticking up in the back. This is fine but when closing the top back up the front comes down quite hard and if the latches are closed they will bang. I can see something breaking if this is done to many times.

***FRONT LICENSE PLATE***
If you plan on getting an aftermarket front bumper, don’t let the dealer install the front license plate bracket. I’m not sure how it’s installed on all models but on the BB and OBX grills they will put 2 large screws through the painted plastic valance below the grill to hold the bracket on. I’m getting use to the license plate being up a little high but it will take some work to repair the holes once I go with a different bumper.

Not that this is a problem but on the soft tops, when you open the door, the window will drop a 1/2 inch to allow the top of the glass to clear the top. When you close the door the window will go up the same 1/2 inch to make a seal. That was just something I wasn’t expecting and I wondering how long that will last before there is a problem.
All in all, this truck is great! I find myself standing in the garage just starring at it!
The ride is excellent! No tire noise. Minimal wind noise from the top.
It’s worth the wait and in the mean time you can pickup some tidbits to avoid some on the unknown pit falls.

You can buy that as an accessory and put it on yourself. It's only held on by 3m tape so in theory you could even move it to a better location yourself.

Yeah...I didn't get it on mine. I like the discussions about hiding it in the fuel door.

It actually fits inside the gas fill door so you can have it and never see it. (on the inside of the door itself)

Regarding the auto widow drop when opening the doors, I have the same feature on my 08 and 19 Mustangs and have had no issues with them. If down the road your battery is getting old and starts losing power, get it changed before it is dead. Also with the Bronco, as noted by multiple people, the windows may slightly rub if you open the doors to quickly. i noticed a slight delay on your pull will give the actuator time to clear the top. I believe there is an adjustment the dealer can make to fix.

Honestly if I was going to get a keypad I'd put it on the back tailgate so in the case I have the doors off I don't need the keys on me to unlock the tailgate.

I was thinking of putting it behind the spare tire. This way I can go doors off and still lock the tailgate to keep things safe back there.

I think somewhere on the tailgate. If I have it on the doors, when I take the doors off It won’t be an issue :)
