I've never done much of any real off roading in the past. I had a Subaru Outback that I could do some dirt trails with, loose rock, nothing real serious. So there has always been this question in my head. Would I actually enjoy off-roading at the more technical/serious level? Off-Roadeo helped me answer that question with a big fat YES! From the very first moment where I popped a wheel off the ground, I knew I made the right choice in ordering a Bronco.
I picked Lead Vehicle, not knowing it would be lead at the time. So it was certainly nerve wracking at first to be the one who has to approach a new obstacle for everyone else to watch. The first time I popped a wheel up was being instructed to get into a position to show the sway-bar disconnect in action. Which was quite a lot of fun, getting out of and back into the well off the ground Bronco. When I got back in the lead guide who rode co-pilot with me rocked the bumper while I had a wheel in the air. Which was a little intimidating, but actually quite fun bouncing up and down like that. As soon as I got that wheel up though, I was smiling, laughing with joy. That reaction just kept coming out of me all day.
Every obstacle we were guided through was a nice step up from the last. But I never felt scared or intimadated after the first one. All I felt was wanting to get it right, and happiness of course. Lunch was great, we all got to witness a surprise cattle drive down on the road way below. The cave we stopped at was really fascinating. What really made me feel good was the trail instructor telling me I made for a real good lead driver. I was picking great lines all day, never approaching anything too fast, keeping a good pace so the rest of the convoy didn't get in trouble by taking an obstacle too fast. Moab is jaw dropping, and I look forward to going back when I get my Bronco, in hopefully 2023, but we shall see.
The technology is amazing, but I was equally impressed with just what it can handle without any of that extra tech based assistance.

Also apologies for me forgetting names, I'm terrible with names. Great with faces.
