Today was a beautiful day.
Naturally I did my research here before attending the Nevada Off-Rodeo so thank you to everyone who has already shared their experience and photos! And today was my day!
It was an easy drive from the Las Vegas strip to the site, about 35 minutes. Another thread has the GPS coordinates in it. The weather was comfortable in long pants and I drove the entire day with windows down and AC on 4 (out of 7....). I parked at the gate early and waited in eager anticipation!
I had arrived with high expectations and left utterly amazed with the Navada crew and the Bronco! As a novice, meaning no trail experience, I left feeling confident in the vehicle and in my ability to take on challenges I would have otherwise never considered. We had a small group of 5 drivers in 4 Broncos. Everyone came with different levels of experience and contributed to the group (and my personal enjoyment and growth during the day). Our trail guide Todd was patient and clearly communicated each step. I was surprised he trusted me on some of the obstacles, although I think he had more faith in the Bronco than me at times! I probably should have sprung for the extra $75 coverage, although thankfully didn't need it!
As others have mentioned, the food was fantastic. Water breaks were plenty. And the views were outstanding! Even the bathrooms were clean which honestly was a surprise. Obviously the meat of going to this event was to drive. However this was generally slow paced (3-8mph) and I valued the time set aside for basic recovery and safety. Much of the time was spent in M1. Trail assist turns were fun and can see the utility. Forget GOAT modes or cameras, this focused on understanding what was going on with the vehicle, trusting the spotter and getting a feel of things behind the wheel. And as someone else had mentioned, there was no negative talk of competitors which kept it classy. And while the mercantile shop was open the whole time, there was no pressure.
I left knowing the Bronco is much more capable than I had previously understood and now I can actually intelligently use the technology built within.
Now I only need to take delivery and find some trails!
