Current Owners with Leather - Feedback Please

I know the conversation regarding marine grade vinyl (MGV) vs. leather has been had multiple times. Believe me, I have read just about every forum thread and general discussion on the topic. Although I am currently torn between the two options, this thread is not for a comparison. Rather, I would like to get feedback directly from current owners with leather interior, or those that have truly experienced the leather interior.

I would first like to preface with some of the weighing I have been doing and why I am leaning leather, but with great hesitation. With leather, I really like the power seats option. Simply a creature comfort I would really like to have. I am not concerned with the need for "hosing" out the flooring, which is why I do not mind the carpet. I can still get the rubber liners and plan to. The carpet also helps with some sound dampening.

My concern with the leather and what I would like feedback on...

From the number of videos I have watched, articles I have read, and photos I have browsed, there seems to be one thing all of the Bronco leather interiors have in common - it is "loose" looking or "wavy" in appearance in certain areas (the actual leather areas). To me, it simply looks bad and of low quality. I think the MGV looks way better, more durable, and of higher quality (taught, strong, robust, etc.). How does your leather interior look/feel? Are you happy with it, not happy, have concerns?

Appreciate the time and feedback. Apologies if this post seems superfluous.

Let me preface this with I haven't received my bronco yet, So grain of salt.

The MGV when I saw it at one of the dealers was much nicer than I thought it would be. I think it would be fine and would give you no trouble. I was initially going to go this direction because of the rubberized floor. However its not a spray in liner or molded in thing, but an insert, so water can and will get between that and the floor pan. Kinda made me warry

I think the leather looks nice and would be reasonably durable and easy to clean (relative to the cloth). This isn't the tan leather in my wife's Lincoln that stains if you look at it funny- the leather (and vinyl) that ford uses is pretty tough and should be no problem. As lame as it is, its the cup holders in the back that part of the equation too. I have small kids and the rear cup holders with the leather just eliminates a fight. Yep, I could do a molle cupholder on the seat backs, but sometimes I am a lazy man.

Again, just one guy's opinion.

“That stains if you look at it funny.” Haha. I’ve been there.

In regards to the cup holders, not lame at all. Honestly, that’s an excellent passenger option that I’m sure a lot of folks with MGV will wish they had, especially when it comes to family trips, rides, etc. At least if the kids spill something it’s easy to clean?

I really need to try to see both options in person. Appreciate the feedback!

I have a BD with MGV. Hands down the better choice. FORD leather is not up to snuff at the pricepoint of that option level. I had a Mustang with leather, same issue.

Save the money, go MGV, you will not regret

I got the black diamond more for the washout floors than I did the MGV, but after driving mine for over a month now, and putting 4000 miles on it, I really like MGV. I’m in and out of different cars all day long for my full time job as a salesman, so I know a thing or two about comparing. The only seats more comfortable/high quality IMO are Cadillac leather. If you have any doubt that you’ll be beating your interior up and getting it dirty, MGV is a great choice. You can always opt for a reasonably priced re-upholstery job with custom leather later on if you decide later that the vinyl isn’t your thing. With the market being so scarce, upholstery shops are making lots of deals on full leather customizations so people don’t settle. I know of one place in my town that will do a very nice job on 5 seats for less than $1000.

Appreciate the feedback, All. Through more consideration, forward thinking - weather, dog, etc. - and with a bit more research, I’m keeping with the MGV.

Here is an option, which i have done on other vehicles before. Once you have worn out the existing seat coverings (be it leather or cloth) there are many places to take a vehicle to have the seats covered in leather and typical costs is around 1,200 - 1,500 for front and back seats. I have even done this with new vehicles to avoid the $6,000 up charge for leather for a Lariat and just did the leather myself and got a higher grade leather and better fit. Just an option and if i want to add leather to my Bronco later i will do it myself.

If you find out you don't like the MGV, just order the Katkins leather. It will be about the same price as the optional leather and much higher quality. Not to mention you can custom design your seats if you want to.

You do get the power seats with the leather… that was the tough part. 6 way manual vs. 10 way power.
