OK so I know there is some heated debated about this but....here we go...I don't have time to hand wash my OB every week and never had a car with a soft top. Has anyone taken their soft top through a car wash?

They ruin the paint anyway. I don't care what the car wash says about filtered water etc,I will only wash cars at home ,if they get washed at all.
Like I told one guy, I wash my car every time it rains.Silver paint always looks clean. :ROFLMAO:

It's not about the time or scrubbing (well, actually it is), but it's about the soap and wax being applied to your soft top. You don't want that on your soft top. Also, the "scrubbing" part accumulates dirt from the cars that go in before you, then they scratch your soft top windows.

CLEANING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP

Remove lint with a lint roller or vacuum with a soft bristle brush.
Wash with an approved high quality convertible top cleaner and protectant.
Note: Do not use stiff bristle brushes, abrasive materials or household cleaning products.
Note: High pressure water may cause water leaks and possible seal damage to the convertible top.
Cleaning the Soft Top Windows
We recommend that you only clean the soft top windows in the following way:
  1. Use only a microfiber cloth, cold or lukewarm water, and a mild soap and water solution to clean the soft top windows in a circular motion.
  1. Rinse thoroughly with cold water, then wipe with a soft, damp cloth.
  1. Use a small amount of soft top window cleaner or equivalent to remove fine scratches and to improve visibility and provide UV protection to help prevent yellowing.
  1. For additional information and assistance, we recommend that you contact an authorized dealer.
Note: Test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area before applying broadly.
Note: Do not use hot water or anything stronger than mild soap on the soft top window.
Note: Do not use solvents such as alcohol or harsh cleaning agents on the soft top window.
Note: Do not use a scraper or de-icing chemicals to remove frost, snow, or ice. Use warm water only.
Note: Do not paste stickers, gummed labels or any tape on the soft top window surface.

So I should just go to the carwash topless, lucky for me I have the washout interior. :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

If you have a soft top or SAS package, just a heads up that Ford says hand wash/touchless-only ... no car washes with mechanical tracks in the owner's manual.

Ahhhhh - the car wash debate…

First and foremost, your vehicles should be properly protected with a quality wax or ceramic coating (a debate for another thread) at regular intervals and only washed by hand using a foam cannon and the 2 bucket method.

Have an obx soft top as well and like everyone else recommend hand washing only! If you can't do it yourself then pay a reputable place to do it for you.

We have a new Ford F-150, and a Mustang both have ceramic coating and PPF, they are easier to wash now and yes it takes time, I will also be doing PPF and ceramic coating on my Bronco so, now I will be washing 3 cars. :ROFLMAO:

lots of articles out there about car washes.Even the touchless ones are not good for your paint, or glass due to the chemicals they use.
I’m now using a foam cannon, takes about an hour to do both vehicles now, once I get my Bronco, Mustang will stay in the garage most of the time 7123FD91-1795-4B04-B285-5C5B5F754FC3.jpeg

No, I haven’t. We actually kept it in the garage for most of the time, I just started driving it this past summer while waiting for another vehicle, that I expected in the summer, but that’s another story.
