Exclusive: Ford Bronco Raptor Tease

By Laura Zielinski

If last weeks stellar showing at SEMA is any indication, the Ford Bronco is the hottest off-road vehicle the industry has to offer, and it is about to get even hotter. Bronco Nation has managed to snag the best glimpse of the upcoming Ford Bronco Raptor, the first company confirmed news related to the product, since Ford CEO and longtime automotive enthusiast Jim Farley famously tweeted “Hold on to your butts”.

At an undisclosed location this past weekend, three members of the Bronco Nation Team were summoned for an up-close look at the most anticipated Raptor since the launch of the brand in 2009.

The Bronco Raptor, available in the summer of 2022, is rumored to be equipped with a V-6 EcoBoost engine upgraded from the base offering. If this rumor is true, and shares the same level of improved horsepower of the F-150 Raptor, you could expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 horsepower – not too shabby.

Sitting on 37s, the Bronco Raptor is taller from factory than any of the current 6-gen Broncos, and keeping with the trademark Raptor stance, much wider. Beefed up suspension and the iconic, and often copied front grille with the amber lights and more aggressive exterior styling.

Stay close to all the Bronco Nation channels for more exclusive detail on the Ford Bronco Raptor, including interior and powertrain details.

Yeah, they seem to include a step though, shouldn’t be too hard to climb in. :-)

@Laura @David shouldn’t it be “450hp” not 350?

will be interesting to see how they allocate them.

This sits in the same realm as GT500s for me. I will never own one but I’m still glad it exists.

My dealer asked if I would be interested, but frankly I think I will be happy with my FE (we do have a GT500)

I agree wholeheartedly, but let's hope they exist out IN THE WILD and not socked away for years in a garage waiting for sale at Mecum Auto Auctions.

Really hoping for a reveal event and a shot at a reservation with price protection. I've been waiting a few years for the Ford Performance Bronco and in the meantime worked my butt off landing a great job and now can actually afford one. Held off the first round of reservations for this trim level, I really hope normal working folks will have a shot at MSRP. Will be my first new car purchase if I can find a decent dealer with an allotment. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a pipe dream.

Every dealership I have spoken to has said they will go at market rate pricing. So unless you stumble across a dealership that is not interested in making a lot of profit, you will pay a hefty price.

I agree, having talked to several dealers in my area about the Raptor in the last 2 months or so. The dealers that would talk about it all said pretty much the same: looks like wont be a reservation item. With it being a Ford Performance Truck it's only allotted to dealers based on fords metrics . Basically like a set of rare Jordan's they're keeping the supply down to drum up interest in the brand as a whole, nevermind the whole chip shortage this vehicle will always be sold at a level where demand always out paces supply.

Here's our math on hrsprs prediction, we're thinking 2.7L Hprs +10%. This IS NOT confirmed by Ford.

F150 3.5L V6 400hp
Raptor 3.5L V6 450hp (+12%)

Bronco 2.7L V6 310hp
Raptor 2.7L V6 350hp (+12%) rounded up from 347hp
