The third episode of our Bronco How-To series will be posted tomorrow. The subject for this week is G.O.A.T. Modes. Be sure to come back by this thread after the video premieres. We’ll have some extras for you and will answer as many questions as we can.

I’d like to acknowledge that many of you are expecting a video on door removal. We get that and are still working on it and will be getting that out as soon as we can.

Note: The first version of this video included an onscreen notation that Trail Turn Assist is only available on the 2.7L EcoBoost Engine. This is incorrect, Trail Turn Assist is available on both the 2.3L and 2.7L Ecoboost. However, it is only available on the 10 Speed Automatic Transmission.

Hopefully they cover what each does, and if we can do things like emulating sport mode on the Badlands by doing things like turning off the 4WD.

Really excited for these. Being that I have modes on my 4runner and don't use them, I've done a little more research on the G.O.A.T modes and am pretty excited to try them out.

Although I am pretty bummed that the Badlands doesn't come with a "Sport" mode. Seems the only other mode with an open exhaust for the Badlands is "Baja". Obviously that won't work to well on pavement without issues.

Am I missing something here? Why would it not work on pavement? I can see something not working as well on off-road, but on road?? I may just need coffee too and not thinking straight! LOL

Please please please cover any differences in how the goat modes function between manual and auto transmissions. My guess is the modes make more of an impact on auto transmissions since they also affect shift points, rpms, and rev hang.

@David I thought I saw that if you add Sasquatch to the Base you get an extra G.O.A.T. mode but I can't find it again to confirm. If yes, what mode is added and is the chart showing the 'Squatched or non-'Squatched modes for the Base?

Maybe I’m wrong, but being that Baja will be in 4wd, Just sounds like ripping up tires and possibly messing up gears when turning around corners in the city. Coming from many vehicles with manual 4x4 maybe an automatic 4x4 will work differently?

Well actually the video cleared that up, don’t use Baja on the road. Bummer I really don’t understand why it doesn’t get sport

The one mode I was hoping to get more on was sport but of course they use a badlands to explain the modes which doesn’t have sport mode

@David Excellent GOAT modes video. This video may have cleared up a long-standing mystery for me. The mystery was related to how do you switch on and off Trail One-Pedal Driving.

We know Trail One-Pedal Driving requires the 2.7L engine and Trail Control for Off-Road requires the 10-speed transmission. We knew the switch to engage Trail Control is in the center of the GOAT modes dial, but where is the Trial One-Pedal Driving switch?

In the video below, I have advanced the presentation to 1:03. That is the place where the mystery may have been solved. @David Is that a correct assumption?

I think both trail control and trail one pedal are turned on with the button in the middle at the same time. If you push the button you will start driving with one pedal, then if you set your speed it goes to the trail control (like cruise control). Obviously we didn’t go into a ton of detail in this video because we weren’t actually driving.

Beat me to it! We'll do a full fact sheet in trail one pedal drive. There are some caveats regarding when it can and can't be engaged and other capabilities/limitations. We'll do a deeper dive here soon.

Thank you! Seems to me the two hallmarks of the 2021 Bronco are modularity and technology. Frequently we buy a vehicle and never understand all the capabilities related to the technology. Now we have the time, and hopefully the interest, in digging into the technology.

I understand some potential buyers of the Badlands model might be concerned about not having the Sport mode and may be curious about using Baja mode on dry pavement. As we know the Raptor has Baja mode and some of those owners have been very "creative" as seen in the video attached below. I would welcome any comments from Ford if this is a practice that is capable in the 2021 Bronco.

One interesting thing is the separate switches for front and rear lockers. In the Rubicon you get 1 button that turns on the rear locker. Hit it again and both front and rear are locked. There is no front locker only mode. So in the new Bronco will we be able to select front locker only? I hope so. Also it would be nice to have a low-range front wheel drive mode which would give it the ability to do front digs.
