Alright!

After about 6 or 7 hours, split between two days, a lot of cutting, grinding, belt sanding, hand sanding, drilling, and two stainless steel brackets I had to fab... it is done. All in all, I am happy.

There are two things I would like to do further, and I will work on the mod in the future.

Firstly, the overall height. In my mind, I had it much lower, but looking online it is about right when looking at the F150s (I guess for breath).

The second concern is on the passenger side... I have to better fab the back bracket. It is stainless and I painted it flat black to blend, but I was thinking, a threaded rod on each end with no thread in the middle for a better "Stock looking" bracket.

In the end, I am happy. As with mods, you are rarely completely happy, but that always leaves space to get better and waste more time and brain cells.

So... all in. 100 bucks and 7 hours of my time and a load of sand paper, and stainless plate and nuts and bolts and washers I had laying around my shop/garage.

As you can see, they place a lot of space in there from the factory as well ... Must be for breathing space.

Wow that looks great. Too bad for anywhere between $30,000 and $90,000 Ford couldn’t figure that out.

I was kinda thinking the same thing which is why I want to push it a little more so that the Brackets each seem factory as well. They don't look bad, but they don't look Ford.

So here is an honest question. To Bronco or not? At first, I was thinking no reference to the kicking mustang or to the Bronco name, but then I started thinking about all of Ford's easter eggs on this thing. Should I do a small, medium, large horse or Bronco script?

Is that the 2.7 or 2.3 and what part number was the cover? Looks like a good project.

1Five! It is a 2.7 cover for my 2.7 and it was around 100 bucks. The place I bought at is out (last one) but here is the part number. https://www.ebay.com/p/5033677971

They also make a 3.5 cover that actually looks cooler, I just didn't want to boast about an engine I wish I had, so I went with the correct CID.

Looks great considering the work needed to modify the cover to fit. It would be nice to have something that dust can settle on and easily cleaned.

That was the idea, I wanted something that would hide all that damn Ford spaghetti, but also be very easy to clean. I also have an oil can/sep on the way, so I will fab that into the actual part of the cover I hate most with Ford-style brackets so it also looks factory when done.

F1 cab? I was always a Chevy man in my hot rods, but I totally get a Ford big block in a Ford truck! Looking good! You could flue your wood stove with those carter/Edelbrock airrisers!

Just be patient, you will see when you try and lay it on for the first time it is super discouraging just how much had to be trimmed and sanded, but when it is done it looks good! I am not kidding when I said 6 to 8 hours of time over the course of 2 days. Fabbing the damn brackets and moving the turbo tubes is a big pain in the arse.

Agreed and I would love to see this engine b/c it is badarse; however, it looks so nasty when you open that damn hood with all that Ford spaghetti. Damn! They couldn't clean all that up? I really think after a few years pass or maybe sooner, Ford will def clean all that shit up. I think they were just scrambling to get everything else done together and on the assembly/built line so that was a "whatever, not important!" deal. While it is surely an impressive powerplant, they need to get those valve covers and coils above all that damn emissions and wiring scrabble. It would also be cool if they placed in a few simple nods to typical mods like a Ford high-volume air cleaner box with a cool external filter. Also, maybe accent the twin-turbo system with some polished hardware (alum or stainless tubes).
