Today while driving home my outside temp reading started climbing, all the way up to 176 degrees then failed, now display just reads dashes. Check engine popped on, P0072 ambient temp circuit code. Can't find sensor location. Anyone familiar?

I’m guessing the sensor came loose and a) it’s either reading a location near the engine or b) it’s a loose pin at the sensor and it simply went to its max limits. It’s occasionally been that hot here in Arizona (hah) but wouldn’t imagine that’s your case.

I don’t know the exact location in my yet to be built Bronco but Ford typically seats them in the lower grill / bumper area. At least that’s the case on my Super Duty.Keep us posted.

Most temp sensors are just above the bumper or right around the grille area. Hopefully it's just a bad sensor. That's what a Warranty is for. We can only hope that all the problems show them selves before the warranty runs out.

Negative to previous responses. Bronco sensor is under driver mirror little square with like a tooth pick tip sticking out. It has failed like mine and many others recall coming soon. You can disconnect your door cable to the body to check connection but will tell you it has failed. No connection issues have remedied. Call your dealer and get on the list of fails. It will screw with your hvac till you see the dashes after running a while then can control your heat like normal. To get heat you to crank dial to max heat and turn it off and on to regulate till fixed

Is it part of complete mirror assy or is it serviceable? Did it take long to get part?

Good to know. Appreciate the update and education. Different than other Fords in my garage.

mine failed in five weeks and 3200 miles many others all have failed very early. I imagine this will be a wide spread issue and a design issue With thermal dissipation of the circuit as from people with issues are from cold climates primarily.
