Crazy number for a 2nd gen but also Interesting that it was Bring a Trailer and not one of the big name tent auctions, Post-Covid will likely be the time of online auctions.

I knew I should of kept my ‘79. It had factory captain chairs with dual armrests. Oh well i am planning to get the new one and I’m not letting go of it.

My 79 has a split bench seat in the front. I’ve grown to really like it. My 78 had those small buckets in the front.

How many of us are upset about selling our 78-79s now?

Mine came to me in rough shape with a swapped in 351W but it had attitude you just didn't get from Ford post-'96...until now! I may end up with a 78-79 again someday, but the 2021+ has all the modern tech and the 2.7L has more HP and TQ than that 351W in a lighter package.

Tried to get mine on BAT and they were like "Yours looks to be a very fun truck, but with some of the cosmetic needs that it has, I'm afraid that it's not quite what the team is looking for at this time. " Been cleaned up a little since then..
One female owner.. 99% all original .. 117k miles, Whats a good alternative to BAT?

That is a beautiful Bronco. I’m sure you would have no trouble selling it to someone here. If I didn’t already have a project truck.

1978 was the beginning of the end of the good looking broncos, IMHO ... the Bronco II of course, was the Bronco equivalent of the Mustang II ...

The ‘21 Bronco is my penance for a (bad) decision I made 40 years ago. My dad was working for Ford as a General Foreman in manufacturing and I placed an order for an ‘80 Bronco with the intention of using an A-Plan pin at purchase - I guess that was 3rd Generation? Problem. I ordered it without even sitting in one. Hey, I was 19 years old. I had a lot to learn. As the Bronco was moving through production I decided it might be a good idea to actually see one and drive it. The meeting between me and the 1980 Bronco didn’t click. It seemed too big to me. There was no connection. I cancelled the order without consulting with my dad (he and mom were in Mexico on vacation) then proceeded to buy a 1980 Toyota 4X4 o_O Looking back that was almost sacrilegious.

I actually loved that Toyota though, and some of my best memories are when I was off-road in the California hills and even the sand at the beach. My father never said a word. Wish he was around now to see my new (forthcoming) 6th Gen Bronco. He would’ve loved how they’ve reincarnated this icon. As you are @The Horsekeeper, I’m not planning on letting go of my new Bronco. It may grace my driveway for the rest of my days. Hope so.

Well said @Cooknn. Thanks for sharing your story. I have owned 3 Big Broncs over the years and have regretted selling after each time. I love the nostalgia of the new Bronc and also plan on keeping mine until I am in the dirt. (y)

My first car was a 1975 Mustang II that I bought from a buddy, when I was 14. I did a bunch of body work and interior work. The V8 was already reworked with lots of fun stuff. That was a fun car admittedly it was ugly even then I thought it was rather ugly. I used to roll with my cousins and a few friends we all had mustangs there were two 66’s, my 1975, my brother and a friend both had 1982 GTs ( still my favorite stang) a 1983GT, 1982 Mercury Capri 5.0, 1986 Capri RS 5.0,and a 1987 Mustang LX notch back. We used to say, if it was not for the Mustang II it is possible the Mustang name would have gone the way of the Bronco. It was ugly but it was a fun car. I even won Second Place (in my class) at the 25th anniversary Mustang Show at Seaworld Texas. A 1989 Saleen Mustang one first, it still had paper plates. Third place was a white 1989 25th anniversary convertible.
