This newbie here wants to upgrade my tires but i want to keep the steelies (main reason i went with the Black Diamond) .
Which is the biggest tires size/best brand i can go with without adding a lift (for now) or removing the crash bar? 285? 315?

2022 BD **2.7 **auto** non-sas
Non-off roading(maybe in the future)
City/highway driving (live in So Cal)

Thanks in advance

Should have no problem with 285, don’t think you can get away with 315 without any lift, you definitely need to remove crash bars for 315s.
I happen to have a set of 5 285 BFG KO2s from my Badlands for sale, they have the wheels mounted on them but if you’re interested you could take just the tires. I’m in socal
Agree about the BD steelies, they look dope

I'm a big fan of Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Remember, if you up your tire size from stock, it will throw off your speedometer.

If you are avoiding a lift and don't want to remove the crash bars... 285/70R17 (33s). 295/70R17 (34s) should also work for probably 90%+ of the tires on the market, but it's a little close and the random size variations between manufacturers might bite you—especially if you max out suspension while turning.

Anything more than that and you are probably looking at removing the crash bars and adding a lift. Limiting factor will be the width of the wheel. Those steelies are 7.5-inch wide, and vast majority of 35s on the market will require 8-inch or 8.5-inch wide wheels. You can still absolutely mount 35s, but it'll be one of the relatively rare "pizza cutter" sizes due to the width limitation: 35x10.50R17, 35x11.50R17, 255/85R17, etc.

My favorite of the pizza cutters is the 255/85R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T.
