msg from Gary Ogle,,
( Good afternoon and thanks for letting me join in. I am Gary Ogle, one of the event organizers. I should be able to answer most if not all questions about what you are looking for in the rally as well as where to stay and where to go when you are in the area.
Just a brief overview, on Wednesday morning we will start off with a off-road excursion starting at the trailhead of Camp5 located in between Deadwood and Sturgis just off 14A. Camp5 is also known as Hal John's. There are two parts of this trail. The true trail is the creek bottoms of Boulder Creek and Bear Butte Creek. There is also roads that go in between and beside the creeks, which is considerably easier to travel. You can look on Internet for Camp5 or Hal John's for videos of people going through. There's an easement going through private property that will be able to use that no one else gets to use on that trail.
We will have a kickoff party on Wednesday night at the Sturgis Brewing Company.
Thursday, we will have an off-road close course at the Buffalo Chip. It is a 6 1/2 mile high-speed off-road course that is used for multiple racing events during the year. We will also have a recovery course there on Thursday if people want to sign up for those. Also on Thursday: There will be two guided tours on mostly paved roads going through the Black hills. We plan on leaving the Buffalo Chip go all the way down to Custer State Park and through Needles State Park and back. It is about a 5-6 hour round trip with stops but you get to see a nice chunk of the Hills.
Thursday night we will be at the Big Engine Bar at the Buffalo Chip to do some Bronco games (On pavement).
Friday morning- continuing the recovery course and closed course at the Buffalo Chip. Noon-6pm are timed obstacle/driving course, Bronco barrels (yes barrel racing!), dirt drag races (first to 150 feet wins BUT you have to stop before you reach 225 feet or you are DQ'd). And final that evening back to the Big Engine Bar and more parking lot games.
Saturday; 10-4pm show-n-shine and scratch-n- dent. Main street picture of the group at noon, Back to the Big Engine Bar for the banquet, awards, raffles and auction.
Sunday on your own trails and tours.
Hope this starts to help. I know we have a poker run but will need to get you more details. That may be going on at the same time or in conjunction with the guided tours.
Call me if you have any questions that may take allot of time to explain. My phone number is 509-499-1289.
Cheers and look forward to seeing all of you!
Gary )
Hope this helps everyone.
