Eastern Sierras Trail Ride - Mazourka Peak and Papoose Flat

This is a late fall trail ride in the Inyo Mountains. The weather forecast looks good.

I’ve done this route in one day, but there is the option to camp at Papoose Flat (dry camping) if we want a more leisurely pace.

BE WARNED: Papoose Flat is at 8,000’ altitude so it will be COLD at night.

It’s 21 miles to the summit of Mazourka Peak with mine ruins to explore and potential side excursions (Santa Rita Flats).

Then descend from Mazourka Peak and cross the rocky saddle on more difficult terrain to reach Papoose Flat.

Saturday November 12, 2022: meet at 9:00 a.m. at Keith B. Bright High School on Mazourka Canyon Road just east of 395.
