Event details
35 miles SE of Challis, Idaho. From Challis, travel south on Highway 93 for 2 miles, turn right onto Highway 75 and travel approximately 17 miles to the East Fork Salmon River Road. Turn left onto the East Fork Road, and travel another 20 miles. The Little Boulder Recreation Site will be on the left side of the road. Camping both Friday and Saturday evenings. We could do a French Ridge Road exploration run on Sunday. This is on my "to-do's" for the area as it drops over the back of Railroad Ridge into more alpine terrain. We will leave from camp up to Railroad Ridge road work on Saturday at noon. Up to the White Cloud Wilderness Boundary. There we will be placing new signage provided by the USFS. This project should take no more than a couple hours and we should return to camp around 5:30- 6pm.
*This is high mountain alpine terrain and the temps will be very cool at night, so make sure to bring cold weather gear.*
If you are not able to make it there before the project time, you can meet us at camp or on the ridge. If you can only make it for a Saturday night campout and Sunday exploration, this is no doubt where you will want to be with your Bronco!

Railroad Ridge is a high mountain ridge at an elevation of 3.180m (10,433ft) above the sea level located in Custer County, in the US state of Idaho. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s said to be the highest road accessible to full-size vehicles in Idaho. There is currently a lack of signage to specify non-motorized use into the protected Cecil D. Andrus–White Clouds Wilderness boundary. There is a good chance we may encounter obstructions that we will need to remove on the way up to the boundary. We will be on the look out for any trash. There are nowhere near enough people involved in local trail advocacy projects to keep up with the demands on our current trails. If we are looking to improve our community, it should start with us. The future is an engaged, collaborative actions and I hope you can join us for our first stewardship project in Idaho here!
