I do think you are right in that a lot of people just want the "NEW thing" regardless of whether it actually makes sense or not. I think a lot of people will happily lease or trade in their vehicle every 3-5 years or so.

There is probably a balance with off-roaders that you can hit, some things you can upgrade more often than others. Stuff like the infotainment system and sound system... for example... I think you can upgrade much more often and not have to worry impacting the aftermarket parts community too much. I know a lot of people have been asking for stuff like BlueCruise and increased towing (the latter something I personally would like to see). You could probably do stuff like that without having major impacts.

But once you get into things that change body dimensions... that impacts things like roof racks, or cargo area storage, or bumpers, lighting mounts. And... eh... I just think 5-6 years is too quick. I personally would rather see a vibrant aftermarket parts ecosystem.

I do think doing quicker refreshes makes sense for the typical crossover/SUV that frankly most people use as appliances to get to work and back. And it also makes sense for vehicles like the F-150 because... well... they sell like 6 times as many F-series per month as they do Broncos. There is a gigantic business market that'll happily develop parts and upgrade their fleet of pickup trucks every 3-years for tax benefits. But off-roaders don't really have the ability to lean on gigantic sales numbers or businesses to support a market for aftermarket parts. Many of the parts we buy are developed by small business.

Maybe the answer is having 2-3 mid-generational refreshes every 4-6 years rather than doing a new generation every 5-6 years. Or maybe there is a way to release a Bronco that changes the body style in a big way without impacting things like the roof top dimensions, bumper mounting points, or cargo area dimensions. Definitely some possibilities worth exploring. But in general, I think 5-6 years is too quick.

Normally the cycle has about two front and rear fascia updates.. and maybe a body line crease. Everything else stays the same dimensional for the most part. Before they do a major generation change. And then, the bones hardly change. And im okay with them staying in 6g attire. But they definitely need to come in swinging harder than the last 2 years. The fact is IMO... They nailed it in 2021 so perfectly. They will struggle with 7G. Because it will change. And I dont think they can continue to try to duplicate the EB... and they will contour it so bad ...it'll end up being another SUV... please. Please, please I hope im wrong.

Would be nice if Ford would offer a emergency brake like that is available for the Mustangs…

Even the location EB on the Bronco sucks… even more so for us that have the MT88 manual that get used every time.

Ford spent a lot of time w/ drifters to dial in the sensitivity.. that could be helpful on trail ( no not to drift ). Since they have that level of data/ knowledge it should be easier transferring to the Bronco.

everyone should use their parking brake every time, not just manuals. The parking pawl is only a 1/4 dowel that is a lot of wait for that fairly small piece of metal. Plus if it were to fail and it rolled into traffic the first thing the insurance company will ask is did you set the parking brake? Gives me such anxiety when I see someone get out of their car and it rolls forward or back a few inches.
