2025 OBX

Nov 22, 2024

Hello,

I just recently placed my order with Ford a couple of days ago for a 2025 Outer Banks (coming from 17 Mustang) on it I selected the following options:
- 2.7L
- Lux Package
- Shadow Black Hardtop

Plan on getting:
- Under glow
- FlowMaster FX Axle Back Exhaust
- Ford Performance Tune
- some sort of cold air intake (suggestions welcome)
- want to get Aux switches (shows they’re available in the compare section but not the online build sheet- waiting for dealer to confirm whether it’s available)

This is gonna be my new daily and was wanting to know from current Bronco driver any changes you’d make if any as well as any mods you’ve done that have upgraded your experience. Also wanted opinions on the desert sand color, I was looking at black at first but really thinks it’s kinda basic and will show scratches easier.

The desert sand is a very nice color.

Sounds like a nice build & good luck @Bradleyxxii

Any color is easier to keep clean and avoid scratches compared to black! If you plan on off-road adventures, I would recommend the Sasquatch package too.

I plan on doing mild off roading, not any rock crawling or anything mainly just like dirt trails with some hills.

I installed the FLowmaster exhaust. It was OK around town, but on the x-way the noise was a pain. Best way to describe it was a loud moaning noise that got on my nerves after about 30 minutes. I use mine as a daily driver, so after about 800 miles I put the OEM muffler back on. My 2¢.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

If you're planning to take it off-road, I would wonder if that glossy black hardtop might not be suseptabe to scratching much more easily than the current hardtop.

Sounds like a fun build…. From my sales person, i would definitely get the Sasquatch package (improves resale) and I agree with @Jorge concerning top color… you may end up doing more than you expect…

It's going to be nice. The sand color with the black top will look sharp. My guess is it will lead to more black add on's. Lux and 2.7, good options happy I have those.
I'm not a fan of the engine, exhaust modifications. I even kept my Shelby stock.

Not sure what you mean about under glow. I have added rock lights in the wheel wells for running trails at night.

Thinking you made some nice choices.
Ford Performance tune is great. Wouldn’t do CAI, just a good high-Flo filter will do about the same. Also would be careful with choosing an aftermarket exhaust. Many may make your wife or GF look for other rides. I have a Magnaflow Overland (for sound and looks). Works well.
I wired LED interior lights to one of my Aux switches as standard lighting tends to be a dark hole.
Do your research before you jump into anything.
Best of luck

Welcome to the Nation. I am kinda partial to the Desert Sand myself. Until they added it for MY25 there was less than 800 of them running around.

@Bradleyxxii, you're in Flagstaff, and close to off-roading options we Easterners drool over. Just wait till your main squeeze sees videos and images of Sedona.

You've selected and optioned wisely, especially (planning on) the Flowmaster, Performance Tune, and Aux switches. Believe me: that's just the start. You'll enjoy easy #2-#5/10 trails and back roads, then you'll see, or hear about, more exotic and challenging routes and you'll want to do them. What we've learned, already, is that the Bronco is 1) addictive and 2) expensive.

So in a word: as @Bschurr put it: Get the Sasquatch. And you'll find plenty of advice and experience on this forum, and also bronco6G.com. Regarding off-road options, accessories, and upgrades, check out "Members Marketplace" on Bronco6g, at the bottom of the discussion forum.

Regarding the color: Desert Sand is way cool. It's a matter of taste. I didn't plan on Carbonized Gray, but now that I have it, I love it--and the compliments, too.

Unfortunately not available for 2025 on the Outer Banks. It was available in the past though, so they probably just didn't update that part of the website.

People have been able to retrofit them in past model years. Requires a new wiring harness, the aux switch panel, and a fuse box. We obviously don't know if the wiring harnesses has changed for 2025 yet, but my guess is you'll be able to install them after delivery without a too much trouble.

Or, honestly, maybe consider aftermarket options. Lots of good ones out there. Personally I really like the Switch Pros, they have a kit for the Bronco that I've been eyeing. (I have the factory Aux switches, just need more switches.)

@RagnarKon, you demonstrate my point to @Bradleyxxii, that this whole Bronco business is addictive and expensive. @Bradleyxxii, even if you keep your rig mostly pavement, you'll be looking for ways to spiff it up with more chic and shine. If you do "minor offroading," then there's the performance issues, as you'll be wishing you had more lift and more capable tires, cargo/roofrack capacity, etc.
So if your budget allows, go for the Sasquatch, as Ford has put together a well engineered package that should allow you to do just about anything Moab has to offer. Sure, you can add a lot later, but then you're depending upon expertise: yours or somebody else's. And if it's a truck customizing shop, then their expertise comes with their sales pitch in mind. I have the Badlands Sasquatch Lux, over-paid with an admin fee in the bad-old-days of Bronco scarcity, with no regrets.

Was it just too loud in your opinion or didn’t have a good purr to it?

If I’m going off roading the tops coming off, I thought about that as well realized ima go top off when I’m hitting trails especially with AZ weather.

They’re very similar to the rock lights, just LED light strips for under the car. N I fear you may be correct, I’m looking at getting black rims for it already.

Yeah it was only offered in MY22 and only for the Everglades. We do a fair amount of off-roading pretty sure it is because we can. We now look for reasons to exercise our 4X4 so the Bronco was the catalyst to our off roading. I have owned/own 4x4 trucks in the past but I really only had that in case I needed 4-low but now we go looking for trails to use it. Ours is bone stock but we have the Sasquatch package. I don’t think you will regret going Sas if you can swing it. But once you add sas to an OBX you might be better off with a different trim level. And yes we have all lost sleep over what trim we want. I started off with a no squatch badlands then ended with an Everglades, but that was back in the old days when we were waiting years for our Broncos.

@Bradleyxxii, Living in Flagstaff, you've got options. The front and middle sections of the hardtop come off, easily enough, but the rear is a 4-hand job (that sounds naughty!). Lots of options on lifting mechanisms, including home-made, check bronco6g for threads. Heads up, literally! measure your garage door and make sure that it accommodates your truck, especially if you get a roofrack and/or roof-mounted trail lights.
Speaking of which, factor in that rear roof section if you get a roofrack. With many, you're acquiring an accessory that will realistically turn that rear roof section into a permanent install (e.g. Trailrax.) A partial, rear-only, roofrack might meet your needs. My Trailrax has off-road lights (front), wired side lights both sides & rear, and I'm looking for a satellite antenna upgrade to mount on the roof rack, so my "TRMX" is now a permanent install. But the front and middle sections come off.
Check members marketplace at bronco6g.com (bottom of forum) for stuff other people don't need.
