Outside Magazine recently published an article in conjunction with Ford, “The Off-Road Antidote.” The premise of the piece was that people don’t get outdoors enough; some of us spending as little as 10% of our waking hours outside. When that happens, physical and mental health suffers, and we’re burned out and stressed. Not directly mentioned is loneliness, which can another toll on health.
Often, the inside hours stack up due to job obligations, so to combat the work/life imbalance for a couple of hardworking individuals, Ford invited them to Bronco Off-Roadeo Texas and New Hampshire to learn how to off-road in a Bronco. These folks were also paired with a Team Bronco ambassador to spend time enjoying an outdoor activity, like mountain biking and paddle boarding. You can read the full piece and watch their stories here.
Your Outdoor Time – How Do You Spend It?
Not everyone can get outdoors as much as they’d like. However, for many Bronco and Sport owners, getting the vehicle was the first step in spending more time outside with people they love doing things they enjoy.

I love being outside –– hiking, camping, kayaking, off-roading, setting up my hammock and reading in my Bronco with the panels off, or even enjoying coffee while looking at the scenery my Bronco takes me to are must-haves for me, and I’m fortunate to be able to do those on a fairly regular basis, thanks to my job and free-time freedom. It’s easy to not be in a building when your work depends on you being in a field or on a trail in a Bronco or Sport!

I like hearing about others’ hobbies and how you get outdoors. How does the vehicle you bought help you? What modifications have you done to make your activities work?
For off-roading, my Bronco is already set up well from factory. I have modifications planned, but for now, it’s stock (parts and accessories are starting to pile up in the basement). For one, I still need a roof rack for my Bronco, so until then, the Jeeps come out when the kayak is in play. The Badland’s washout flooring and MGV seating were non-negotiable for muddy boots and sunscreen smears, and I’ve had fun strapping gear in and on for off-roading adventures.

Not all, but many of those adventures, from evening hikes to lake days to trail runs, have happened with fantastic members of this community. I’m a loner by nature, but having Bronco besties I’ve met through Basecamps, Off-Roadeo days, and the forums has greatly impacted my life for the better. That’s why meetups and events are so important for me to attend. And if you’re like me, take heart –– you don’t even need to find the friends at any Bronco event; the friends find you!

Share some of your outdoor hobbies and activities the Bronco and Sport make easier/more fun, and show off your gear, campsites, obstacles conquered, places gone, fish caught, and smiles made below!
