Torque Spec Questions

I am having a HECK, excuse my language, of a time trying to get my rock sliders to stop creaking.

About a week ago I installed my TurnOffroad Rock Sliders. The reason I went with these is because they mount to the body mounts and not to the thin metal that the factory steps were mounted to.

They turned out GREAT! I absolutely love the way they look, but there's one major flaw.

The last 3 days the Bronco is creaking and moaning from the driver side. (I checked, it's not because of me being in the driver seat)
It's doing it when stopping, going, and even turning left.

I'm not sure if it's because of the sliders or not, but when I went back and torqued them to Ford Spec, it still did it. I even went back with the torque wrench to make sure it didn't loosen.

I've tried Ford spec and even other companies specs for their own sliders. (TurnOffroad doesn't provide instructions or specs) Added lubricant to the bushings. And added anti-seize to the hardware. Still no change.

Has anyone ran into this issue? Does anyone know the solution?

Found the problem. Pinch weld covers were the problem. IMG_7592.jpeg

So now that you have the rock sliders you shouldn't need the pinch weld covers? or do you still see the pinch weld?
But I am glad you found the issue.

I have to trim the pinch weld covers at the rear. Because there is no bolt hole for the rear to hold itself together, they provide a “tab” that you use to camp the rear together. It hangs a lot lower than the actual pinch weld.
