Random alarm trigger

I park my Bronco in the garage. Last night, randomly the alarm started going off. The Ford Pass app also sent an alert that the hood had been opened. I went out to investigate and nothing had occurred. No one in the garage or touching the Bronco, and the hood was closed. I wrote it off as a random Ford Pass issue, turned the alarm off and went to bed but was curious if anyone else had heard of this or anything like it?

If you do a search for "Hood Latch" in the forums, there are quite a few examples of wonky alarms going off. It seems there may be an issue with the alignment of the hood latch, and or the latch itself. Theres alot of examples, so read through them and see if one matches what you encountered. Fixes have been as easy as a latch/hood alignment, to replacing the hood latch, but save the alert you got on FordPass so you can show the service writer if you take it in.

Yep, it happens quite a bit with the Bronco. The hood sensor is in the latch mechanism and its real wonky and likes to trigger alarms.

My fix was to turn down the two hood stops a quarter turn or so. That fixed the issue for me. Some folks have had the entire latch assembly replaced under warranty.

Good to know, I am still under warranty so I will get the dealership to take care of it.

Hope you get the issue solved easily, @Everglades23. That would be a stressful one, waking up to the alarm.

I’ve had that alarm yesterday go off while I was drive my in town, it lasted for about a mile then went off. I just put in IAG’s under hood lights a week ago and thought that might cause it. Now planning I’ll try turning down the stops a bit. Funny it came on on a smooth paved road and not on the rough two tracker I was on over the weekend.

Mine hasn't done it for awhile. I was getting notifications on my mobile going done the interstate. Adjusted the rubber stops a little

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I took it into the shop, they said the hood latch mechanism was bent and needed replaced. Once they replaced the lath, I haven't had any more problems. This was all under warranty.
