At 78 my bones are getting old, but Draw -tite Class III hitch ,2" receiver was not too bad. A plastic step stool was the right height to lay the heavy (14#) hitch on under the Bronco. The support member measures 3 7/8" box frame and the hitch face say 4" and supplies 1/2 " shaft 3/4" nuts , worked fine.
The space between that member and the muffler is tight, but works at angles. Only issue was only had 1/4" drive should use 3/8". This one only requires 80# torque. Costs etrailer $125 with S&taxes. Ford hitch $395 plus labor 1 hr.
Now to do the hot wiring. etrailer was helpful but two difference tail light. Base hallogen , other led. Ford $125 is non descriptive and no T harness(picture middle). Bummer! You can start with a 4 pin and get a Universal 4 to 7 pin for electric brakes. (picture far right)
Most states for travel trailers over 3000 # require electric travel trailer brakes, except like NY says 1000#. Boats under 3000# a 4pin is fine. Only time consuming is running hot 10 gauge line directly to battery red terminal.
However a 40 amp fuse in engine box at 91 may be routed at factory under glove box . No harness in base rear I understand. Ford wiring instructions not great. Good non Ford video on web. Simpler then Fords. Remove plactic covers that run vertical with tail lights 3 metal 4 plastic , unclip tail light harness , install T harness. Then run green cable from left to right under, attach white neutral to body ground, then run hot cable under following brake lines. But just watch videos.
Now for trailer sway control on non factory tow options. Ford does not enable on touch screen under features(but part of ESC and F150 video says press and hold down the ESC button on dash for 5 seconds to disconnect both Traction and stability controls. Owner manual is silent on trailer sway control, except for above feature, if $695 tow package ordered from factory.
If you have the bucks $695 isnt bad. But factory has Class II 3500 ,unless Raptor,; and for ,say $125 hitch, $100 4-pin wires and 4 to 7 universal say $65 you can install in say two hours a 4 and 7 pin,at say under $300.
I believe the factory only gives a 4 pin CLASS II 3500lbs. tow package unless you get RAPTOR. Let me know if you have tried this. Remember adding a non factoty wiring could void warrantee, but hitch only, should not.
I have asked dealer to enable in features with ForScan. Also if ESP detects a tow trailer package from factory has a trailer plugged in the electric 4/7 pin, it will disable the start stop feature. Live and learn!
