At 78 my bones are getting old, but Draw -tite Class III hitch ,2" receiver was not too bad. A plastic step stool was the right height to lay the heavy (14#) hitch on under the Bronco. The support member measures 3 7/8" box frame and the hitch face say 4" and supplies 1/2 " shaft 3/4" nuts , worked fine.

The space between that member and the muffler is tight, but works at angles. Only issue was only had 1/4" drive should use 3/8". This one only requires 80# torque. Costs etrailer $125 with S&taxes. Ford hitch $395 plus labor 1 hr.

Now to do the hot wiring. etrailer was helpful but two difference tail light. Base hallogen , other led. Ford $125 is non descriptive and no T harness(picture middle). Bummer! You can start with a 4 pin and get a Universal 4 to 7 pin for electric brakes. (picture far right)

Most states for travel trailers over 3000 # require electric travel trailer brakes, except like NY says 1000#. Boats under 3000# a 4pin is fine. Only time consuming is running hot 10 gauge line directly to battery red terminal.

However a 40 amp fuse in engine box at 91 may be routed at factory under glove box . No harness in base rear I understand. Ford wiring instructions not great. Good non Ford video on web. Simpler then Fords. Remove plactic covers that run vertical with tail lights 3 metal 4 plastic , unclip tail light harness , install T harness. Then run green cable from left to right under, attach white neutral to body ground, then run hot cable under following brake lines. But just watch videos.

Now for trailer sway control on non factory tow options. Ford does not enable on touch screen under features(but part of ESC and F150 video says press and hold down the ESC button on dash for 5 seconds to disconnect both Traction and stability controls. Owner manual is silent on trailer sway control, except for above feature, if $695 tow package ordered from factory.

If you have the bucks $695 isnt bad. But factory has Class II 3500 ,unless Raptor,; and for ,say $125 hitch, $100 4-pin wires and 4 to 7 universal say $65 you can install in say two hours a 4 and 7 pin,at say under $300.

I believe the factory only gives a 4 pin CLASS II 3500lbs. tow package unless you get RAPTOR. Let me know if you have tried this. Remember adding a non factoty wiring could void warrantee, but hitch only, should not.

I have asked dealer to enable in features with ForScan. Also if ESP detects a tow trailer package from factory has a trailer plugged in the electric 4/7 pin, it will disable the start stop feature. Live and learn!

Sorry two other pictures from Ford would not load? Picture above is Universal 4 to 7 pin for electric brakes Great video under subject. One last point a brake controller may be required and is not discussed on non' factory set ups, but is available, but dont know if any factory harness exists to tap in. Bronco Sport blog covers some harness .

Yesterday spoke to my selling dealer's service advisor, who said no Bronco Base owners did retro trailer packages so they have no experience ; then parts , who has exterior multi tow $50 receiptical ,but no harness, then sales manager, Ford will not pay to use ForScan to check if tow is enable in menu, but a Bronco Sport blog say it is enable, but is not displayed on touchscreen under features. A Ford tech say base Bronco without factory tow pkg , does not have sway control, but both G6 and safety://Ford.com say trailer sway is enable. Read G6 and sport blogs.

Then calked Hopkins , the wholesaler of the multi tow 41144 same a Ford's but 7 wire pigtail connector come with it for same price. Then back to etrailer and ordered Curt $83, 4 pin plug and play vs Ford's non plug and play for $125.

Simple installation but electronic may void your warrantee if you have an accident . So bottom line. Install electric to Bronco after three years go by. A $118, 4500 Class 3 will fit, brackets $13 and electric $133 ( receptical and harnrss - just cut 4 pin off and connect four color coded wires to pigtail. A brake controller 7 pin runs say another $130 plus labor, by Ford's tow pkg dont come with it, but etrailer has parts. Local installers are available. Good luck!

Thanks for the write up. Gives hope for those who've passed on the factory-installed constraint, er I mean option. I  DIYers! If I only had a garage... :(
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Trailer sway is passive on Bronco. If a Bronco's trailer yay's or sways, the built in message warning " Trailer swaying reduce speed" See OM page 288, but Base could not have factory tow so no page 289 Feature Tow menu. Ford will not pay to set codes. It was reported on F150 towing, in heavy cross winds , that brake will heat up and writer turned off sway controls.Use ESC HOLD DOWN 5 SECONDS MAY WORK ON BASE!
