So I bought the front license plate relocator, tried to install but the tool kit is garbage. (Used drill bit in drill) What is everyone else using to not strip the bolts? I have my side steps coming soon too so any pointers are great.

You can find them on Amazon. These are what I ordered and they seem fine (way better engagement on the Torx bolts that require the +)
Be careful when shopping, there is a Torx security bolt and Torx+ bolt (plus standard). A lot of the "off shore" descriptions are confusing. You can get US made for about $25 more, I just wasn't sure how much or how hard I would use these, so started cheap.

A pro tip to ensure you don’t strip out the head of almost any screw - dip the bit in valve grinding compound and then use it. The VGC will fill in all the voids and create maximum surface adhesion. This is also highly recommended when using an impact screwdriver (like on a rotor bolt)

BUT - If you end up stripping out a torx or torx plus head - stop before you completely bugger it then use a regular Torx bit the next size up and hammer it into the head of the bolt and then try again.

I went to Home Depot on my home and bought the Torx bolt, worked like a charm. Thank you!

I know I'm late but just so everyone can see the differences between Torx, Torx Plus, and Allen heads. https://www.sloky.com.tw/Templates/pic/accessaries_bits02.jpg

I'm so glad someone else had this issue. The bit they gave with us in the Bronco immediately stripped the bolts when I tried to install the license plate relocation bracket and I was really nervous I would be able to get the bolts out to install it. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Track down your local Mac dealer and get some Rounded Bolt Removal Technology (RBRT) bits. Those things are amazing at not stripping fasteners, and getting already stripped ones out! Look up Dan the RBRT Guy on youtube, he does lots of really cool videos on them
