Hard Top Removal

Is it possible to only remove the first two (driver and passenger) top panels and operate that way? I've watched a couple removal videos and have yet to hear if it's possible to only remove the two and not the entire top. (I'd call my salesperson, but the whole experience has been crappy and the most he could help with was programming the radio stations... no knowledge on the lockers or the real important stuff!)

It's 4 door, do you mean the front and middle panels, leaving the end cap on? (I appreciate your input)

You can remove the font panels, or the front panels and the middle panel with the cap on. Front panels are small enough to fit in the rear of the vehicle so you can remove it on a whim as you are out and about. The middle panel, however, is too big to fit in the rear of the vehicle, so you have to do a little more planning if you are removing the middle panel.

What you cannot do is remove the middle panel but leave the front panels installed.

Makes perfect sense, appreciate it very much!!

When I received my GCPA roof anchors the other day I thought it would be the perfect time to lift the roof and get the bottom brackets for my rax pak installed (optional part of the trailrax roof rack). Well when I took the 8 torx screws out I couldn’t budge the roof. I’m guessing it’s maybe got the newly installed never been taken apart before adhesion that mayb just take some working to get popped loose the first time but didn’t want to damage anything in case I was forking up.

Anyone with 4 door have take the back roof piece off any notes? If necessary I have a badlands 4 door with lux package if that adds any PITA (pain in the @$$) to the process. I mean it seems very straightforward and simple and from this video looks pretty light I just don’t wanna break anything.

Any info would be great or I’ll just give it another go and put more @$$ into it and see what gives first.

I did a search and found this topic already here vice startign a new one.

Well got my answer from a FB group. Looks like I forgot the two front roll cage screws.

I know you didn't ask for this, but we did a video on hard top removal. Hopefully it helps in some way.

Did you feel that the roof was still being held down at a certain point? There are two screws on the top where the panels meet the rear box that need to be pulled out and you can find those on the top.

Last thing, the roof is bulky and (wasn't heavy for me) but I needed two people to help take it off. I have since bought a system that helps me take off the roof easily. (see pic below)

I have the same roof rack you do and had to do the same thing, I didn't find it to be too difficult.IMG_0907.jpeg

I had already watched it when I searched the site for an existing thread, just missed the front top screws….

Video does not mention the two bolts at the front edge. Guessing a pre production unit that did not have them?

It also says to use your key to remove the rack cover.
There’s actually a extrusion on the tool itself, to remove the caps & not your key.

No, and maybe that’s why I missed it, but the Ford video does…
