The OEM location is to use the factory mount and drill it into the painted trim piece between the grill and the bumper. Works fine, but if you don't want to do that it depends on which bumper you have.

If you have the standard steel bumper (aka: capable bumper), there are two options I'm aware of:

I've used both. Personally I think @HBTFD's solution looks the best, but it definitely interferes with the approach angle while off-roading, and I've personally already clobbered one of his plate mounts before with a rock. The BuiltRight mount doesn't have that issue, and the entire mount can easily be removed just by loosening the 15mm bolt holding on the skid plate. The downside is the BuiltRight mount is off-center and looks a bit goofy (in my opinion).

If you have the heavy-duty modular bumper, there are tons of options available. BuiltRight and @HBTFD both have options for the modular bumper, as do a bunch of other companies such as DV8 Offroad, Greenlane Off-road, etc. There is also a plethora of random license plate mounts on Amazon that'll work.

You could always add a winch you can put it here. This is how the Everglades is mounted.

Plate was only on the car for one day and someone bent it, it could have been one of my dogs too I guess.

Thank you for this info! This led me to several other threads where I could see pictures and also sent a message to @HBTFD for next steps. Exactly what I was looking for.

Or you can take the factory plate holder and turn it upside down and mount it like my Brother did.

This is on the modular bumper.

Highly recommend the BuiltRight license plate mount. I’ve had this on my bronco (although I have the MOD bumper) for almost a year now. It has withstood off-roading where I have hit it with hard ice etc. It hold up great!

The front plate is fugly. Its a fixit ticket here in Commiefornia and I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for it. With all the crime here I hope cops have better things to do....I will NEVER put this plate on (other to get a fix it ticket signed off) then immediatley remove it again. JMO don;t do it

The guys at Valkyrie Off Road out of Utah have great front license plate mount and the quality of their products is second to none. Their brackets are $59.99. Recommend checking them out before you buy.
