Was wondering if I can buy a softop to keep in garage and switch my hardtop out for summer trips. If I remember correctly the soft top stock comes with the hardtop conversion kit, but I got my bronco made with a hard top. So wasn't sure if it still has capability of switching to soft top without having to buy more hardware or kits

Since Ford hasn't released the soft top for sale, it's hard to know if it comes with all the required hardware. Switching from soft top to hard top is easy if you have the prep kit. Nothing else is required. Switching from the hard top to the soft top requires the soft top window channels, the soft top access panel covers, and the soft top bracket and frame bolts.

None of this applies to the Bestop Trektop that Ford is selling, but that's more of a leave-on top since it takes hours to put on rather than minutes.

I own a 2021 Outer Banks 4 door hardtop. I called my dealer today to enquire about purchasing the factory soft top to run on my Bronco in the warmer months. I think it's mentioned in the above posts that Ford has not released it for sale. I was told that it could not be done without an EXTENSIVE amount of hardware which would costs "thousands". It did not sound like this gentleman truly knew the correct answer and was rushing me off the phone. Are there any threads that talk about the full price to convert, what parts are needed and how extensive it is? Any help is appreciated.

I do really like the look of the angled back on those Trek Tops.

They do not make an aftermarket soft top that operates like the factory top. Bestops Trektop is more of a permanent solution. It takes hours to install/uninstall.

Pretty sure mine was built after 9/1/21 BUT it may have been finished waiting for a new hardtop because it was right around the time they had all those issues. How would I know if a soft top pre kit is installed on my vehicle?

The pre-kit referenced was for the hard top hook-ups such as rear defrosters, windshield wiper hookup and washer. So it was designed to help those with a soft top convert to a hard top at some time in the future, but not the other way around.

So is it possible to do the reverse? I am being told "no" from my dealer. I find this incredibly hard to believe. Wouldn't Ford anticipate people wanting to switch tops from season to season in places that see cold weather? I like the swing back operation of the factory soft top and, what seems to be, less hassle in removing the top completely compared to Bestops aftermarket Trektop solution.

I don't know the difference in the brackets that hold on the soft top and the hard top. It must be possible since there is a dual top option.
@1Five1 Garage has both in his driveway, maybe he has some insight.

Our BB is a pre hard top prep kit Bronco. It doesn’t have the brackets. The BD will come with it though.

from our understanding there is a way to switch but a little more then just the top. There are some plates the soft top secures to on the c pillar that need to be switched as well.
