I looked at all the option of each model. Talked to dealers no one can answer this one.
The Wildtrak model has what I want across the board but there is a line for the option of detachable stabilizer bars like a Rubicon has in the cab. The Badlands model shows it as an option. It shows standard on the top one you can't get anymore. So to get that am I stuck ordering a badlands and option ordering the 2.7L in, and the Sasquatch package to a Badlands or can you get it on the Wildtrak? Its a deal breaker for me without it.
Also all the gnarly bumpers show on a badlands model but not the Wildtrak? So if I'm di 20

I'm comparing g a top model Rubicon 4x4 capability to the Bronco here. The power alone, transmission and front axle win but I have to have the articulation out of that front end sway bar and stabilizer to really compete. Please help

The previous two posts are correct, but you can always disconnect the sta-bar manually (just one nut on each end) when you get to the trailhead, which is what I plan to do.

It's a pretty common practice among the Jeep crowd, and I used to do it on my XJ and ZJ. You can see the stabilizer bar link in this photo (behind the axle shaft):

Only the Badlands has this. The FE is based on badlands with some wildtrack features so it has it as well, but is sold out.

Any thoughts on why they would do this? Leaving it off the best model? Makes no sense to me.

This is an absolute key feature in CO. I live here as well. This allows for full articulation and keeps all 4 wheels attached to the ground when rock crawling so your not on 3 wheels. Another person said you van take it off by taking g off two bolts which is the old way. The Jeep does it with a push of the button. Badlands has it though as an option. You just are going to have to power order the thing into a Wildtrak.

The build a bronco website, then compare models link, top right corner, blue small link. Shows all options on the 3rd page of the pdf.

This was a mistake by them in my opinion. I bet they add it in 2022.

Ford deemed the Badlands as the "rock crawler" trim so the disconnect comes standard. The Wildtrak is supposed to be the desert runner so there is no use having the disconnect according to Ford.
Personally, I don't see why it's not an option on every trim level. I suppose that Ford is trying to steer people to the more expensive trims which makes perfect business sense.

I wouldn’t say the wild tracks is the best model. It is if you are a Baja racer but if you are a crawler then the badlands is the best model. Ford I think did it right by offering the badlands as they have the price point for a base badlands is palatable if you need a super capable off-roader. And if you need the creature comforts of a Mall crawler you can add those to the badlands with lux package 10 speed and the 2.7. I like that they are giving us options and not forcing us to buy a 60k rig to get a nice off-roader. Also remember if comparing Ford to Jeep the Ford sway bar disconnect is hydraulic and can be activated under load, the Jeep must be on flat ground. The Fords will reconnect automatically at 25 mph then disengage again below 5 mph.

I totally agree. I believe the badlands is the best model of you plan to do serious off roading. It may not have all of the comforts of the Wildtrak as part of the base but you can upgrade it to the same for about the same price. Don’t forget the Badlands Come with the rock crawler GOAT mode. If I wanted a serious desert runner I would be inclined to just buy the Raptor. Maybe the new upgraded performance bronco will be what you’re really looking for.

hay the mall crawler might need the disconnect to get over a few car stops to get a better spot close to the mall entrance

I’m going with the Badlands (over the Wildtrak) because you can Baja a Badlands but you can’t Rock Crawl a Wildtrak.

Both the Badlands and the Wildtrak give you seven GOAT modes but:

1) The Badlands doesn’t give you Sport mode for the GOAT system (while the Wildtrak does).
2) The Wildtrak doesn’t give you Rock Crawl mode for the GOAT system (while the Badlands does).
3) *Both* give you Baja mode.

So, I get both Rock Crawl and Baja with the Badlands and only have to give up Sport mode to do it? That’s an easy decision (for me). My understanding is that the stabilizer disconnect provides a more comfortable ride on anything below 25 mph that involves bumps. That has real value if you want to overland or take the road less traveled — even if you aren’t going to aggressively rock crawl.

Granted, we don’t yet know all the pricing details for the two trims. If I were someone that never/rarely planned to go off road or rock crawl, pricing could certainly change my mind here. Since I’m not that person, I will likely go Badlands even if I have to pay a bit more.

Obviously, we all have different priorities and budgets. There’s no objectively ”correct” decision here.

Surprisingly no one has discussed the cool turn feature that lets you lock one rear wheel and slip into that tight parking space at the mall also :)
