My theory on why rear seats are not removable

So I see alot of people unhappy about the 2nd row seats not being removable. A look at the safety section shows that the front and second row has a safety canopy side curtain which made me thought...Is it possible that all these safety airbags or likely even the standard side impact airbags are built into the seats? So ford doesnt want to risk a law suit when people remove the seats and have to disconnect the airbag wires from the seats? I believe my current Toyota does have the airbags built into the seats for the side impact protection. What do you guys think?

I think new cars today have too many damn airbags, and if this is the reason the seats aren't officially removable someone needs to slap the Bronco's head designer and tell him to take the reduced safety score.

Yes they definitely do! Probably have a higher chance suffocating from the airbags than getting hurt from the impact itself...lol:LOL:

You guys work a few roll over mva's or have a loved one in a roll over and you'll be thanking the designers for having them.............or cussing yourself for not buying a vehicle with them. Seat belts and front air bags save lives, side and curtain air bags give you a better chance at walking again when you survive.

Lol, I'm only joking. I'm perfectly fine with airbags.

Jeep was ridiculous with their safety features for many years. Side curtain air bags were a cost option. I know for sure with the JK. Not sure about the JL or Gladiator.

The airbag theory is flawed. You can remove the doors but not a seat?

Side airbags for my toyota is built into the seats and the pillars for curtain. Which manufacturer is yours that has it in the door?

If anyone has a late model Ford please check where the rear seats side impact airbags are located. This could vary by manufacturer and give us an idea what ford does.

Side impact airbags are common in the front row seats in Ford's. I've never heard of such a thing in second row. Side curtain airbags, certainly...
I assume the seats are removable without much work, but Ford didn't design them to be removable.

Ford could and should put a starter interlock on the rear seats. That meaning when the rear seats are put back in they automatically get pugged back in to airbag safety system. Not that big a deal.
Baja on! As Ford Spanked the competition in 1969, in the Baja 1000, NO OTHER AUTOMAKER HAS, replicated in 50 plus years

The rear seats of the 2 door does have some sort of wiring going into the seats.

Just rented a 2020 chevy malibu and they had air bags in the rear seats lumbar. Forgot to take pics. Certainly Ford would keep up with?

I won't remove the back seats in my 2-door on day 1 or 2 (gotta give friends a ride), but by day 3 those "non-removable" seats will be removed.
