So thinking back only a few years (especially the Super Duty) Ford traditionally launched and began production of a new Model Year in late Q1 of the previous year (that is, a 2015 would actually start production in or around March of 2014, and hit lots late Q2.) Most trucks and SUVs were at dealers six months before the calendar of the model year began and ran about halfway through the next (the actual model year). Typical model years run the second half of the “early” year then the first half of the model year. Then production stops and they “re-tool” (if necessary) for the next MY run.
That being said, given that Ford announced the June timeframe and 21’s will likely go in to ‘22, I’m wondering if they should just release it as a 2022 and run production through July 2022 when factories would gear up for 2023’s? Effectively it would be a 14-16 month run on the first model year.
Any thoughts? Should Ford just release them as 2022’s ?
